It may well be BS.
A sound modern gun will not likely go off if dropped. Maybe it was old,
cheap, or defective. I think it more likely that she saw or felt it going,
grabbed at it, and was unfortunate enough to catch it by the trigger.
There was a case reported recently about a guy who dropped a Colt Pocket
Auto which discharged and killed him. But that is an old design without the
safety features of even a 1911.
