Welcome Greg,
First shoot recommendations:
1. Safety, Safety, Safety.
2. Know your firearm...well
3. Dry fire and practice mag changes at home. See #1! NO AMMO
4. Take your time, listen to the SO's commands.
5. Shoot for accuracy, speed will come later with practice. Old saying 'you
can't miss fast enough'.
6. Have FUN!
IDPA is a lot of fun. It builds skills, but remember it is a game.
I have always found SO's and other shooters to be more than helpful, and would
expect the same where ever your plan to shoot. Read up on the rules before you
go. Don't want to get DQ'd your first match
If you find it's something you want to continue, be sure to join IDPA, and after
your comfortable get out to other clubs and go to some sanctioned matches.

Good Morning to all from central Indiana!!!
Getting back into pistol shooting (after 20 years or so). Just purchased a
Springfield XD(m) in 9mm and it shots like a dream (okay, a little low and left,
but that maybe me). I plan on shooting in my first IDPA match this Saturday
(01/03/09). I'm here to learn more about IDPA and how to become a better
shooter.
Also, I'm 56, married for 33 years and have 2 daughters, a son-in-law and 1
grandson. My other hobbies/interests include: ham radio, RV'ing, and search &
rescue (K9 handler). -- Greg.
