RE: [IDPA] fault lines and the classifier

To prevent the shooter from rushing forward and shooting the targets at point
blank range? (Doubt that would be much quicker, but someone would try it.)

To generate a bit of artificial stress by giving the shooter another item to
think about during the string?

Terry

All, The following issue came up briefly at our last classifier... The forward fault line on Stage 2, string 1 (2 ea which advancing) was crossed, however only...

I am not an SO, nor do I play one on TV, but it seems to me that if there was no advantage to the shooter, then there was no foul. May a shooter NEVER cross a...

All shots have to be fired before crossing the fault line. What happens after the six shots are fired has absolutely no bearing on the shooter's ability or...

I don't know where the SO came up with a "hard" fault line idea, but if there was no competitive advantage gained, why bother worrying about it.... That is...

This is even more TRUE while shooting the classifier. The spirit of the classifier is group shooters in groups by skill level/firearm & caliber. Penalties...

The key word is scenario, the classifier is more of a drill or a standard. If any stage is circumvented to gain an advantage, a procedural is well earned, but...

Speaking as a shooter and as an SO, I find it hard to argue with this shooter's reasoning. Unless the fault lines are specifically addressed in The Book, my...

I agree with the shooter. The string runs from the "GO" buzzer til the last shot. Anything not unsafe after the last shot is not relevant. Going to lead to...

The Answer, IMO, is "to create a minimum distance from which you must shoot." As I said, all shots were fired behind the line. Since I've already admitted to...
