Sounds pretty hokey to me.
It would require circumventing a bunch of test and procurement
requirements.
It would add an entirely new gun and caliber to the system.
And it has come to us from a rather obscure site on the
WorldWide Web of Misinformation with no windup, no buildup, no
publicity. I'm waiting.
