I am looking for a cheap foil (under $400) for a cheap guy up in Canada. LOL

Anyone know of something like that?

Thanks

BTW, we found out that free shipping for $30 items most of the time lose us money, so unfortunately free shipping only applies for orders of $100 or more. Sorry for any inconvenience. Any orders placed before yesterday will be honored with free shipping over $25.

Again, any comments or suggestions would be great.

Just about all the calendars from the first round of printing have been shipped.

I have received a bunch of emails asking if I still had some calendars left so I plan to do a second print to meet those needs.

If you are planning on ordering please try to do so by December 6th (This Sunday).  This will help me know how many to have printed.

Thanks again everyone!

Let me clear it up for you, but I am sure you already know some of this:

I guy makes a great products for years. Everybody loves them and him. One day he decides to upgrade one of his awesome products, and asks the people's opinion on a chat list.  Another guy sees this, has had experience with a similar product, and decides to do what he thinks is helping, and maybe it does, but does it publicly in a manor which airs concerns that should have been discussed privately. Not only that, but he cheapens the product the first guy is trying to promote by showing a cheap internet price, trying to look smart like "hey look what I found!" degrading the views of the people who don't know the difference between quality and cheap.

In addition, I think this other person enjoys putting things down, and I speak from personal experience, if this is in fact the person I think it is. But I won't go into that publicly.

So while I agree that the swivel should be after the release point in that given scenario, I also agree that there may also be another possibility. If you use two different products, I am willing to bet there are going to be two different results. I am personally ordering some for my camp, and will let you all know how it goes.

I think it is genius. Innovation is the birth of recovery, in my opinion.

Of coarse, this is all just my opinion. That's what I love about chat lists! It is just people rambling on about what they love to talk about! Hydrofoil!

Is it winter yet?

Geno

If you use two different products, I am willing to bet there are going to be two different results. I am personally ordering some for my camp, and will let you all know how it goes.
I think it is genius. Innovation is the birth of recovery, in my opinion.

Of coarse, this is all just my opinion. That's what I love about chat lists! It is just people rambling on about what they love to talk about! Hydrofoil!

Is it winter yet?

Lonnie,

Next time I try to help you, I think twice. “Blake, thanks for the help.  I had completely forgotten that most inverts were spins. I'll work on that. ” That was really funny. How old are you again?  You missed the point. Sell your product – That’s fine.

My point was where the swivel was located. It may give you issues where it is located on that particular item. I am not trying to stop Cinch from selling them. My intentions are true, that I was trying to help. I’m looking to better the sport. Man alive!!

Go to the forum, http://www.foilforum.com/forums/showthread.php?2909-Trick-release-ideas&p=29699#post29699 and comment there. The swivel location is what my whole point was, BUT you totally missed that.

Thanks!

- Blake

Blake, thanks for the help.  I had completely forgotten that most inverts were spins.  I'll work on that.  Incidentally, the swivel you helped us all find is a cast swivel and I wouldn't go there.  The swivel I plan on using is stainless, drop forged with the release pin made into it.  About $50 ea. retail.  4500# breaking strength.  Anyway, thanks again for the advice.

Lonnie,

It’s a great idea. In fact I tried this same release about a year ago. Bought the part online about $15 plus shipping. http://www.reliancemarine.com/Product/6439/Snap-Shackle-with-Swivel-Eye-70mm/View.aspx

As I said it is a great idea, but does not work. The malfunction comes from the fact that most inverts are spins in the air. That causes the swivel to do its part and swivel, hence twisting the release rope in the rope of the skier. That is what will make this release not work. All that twisting, will twist the release part and the pull string up with it. Making the release inoperable to release when needed. It is like the swivel needs to be after the release, then that would stop the release cord from twisting with demands of the rope. Just wanted to let you know before you put something like this into production.

Subject: RE: [Hydrofoil] CINCH Release New

I'm working on a new CINCH Release for 2010. Not in production yet, but looks very good at this point. I've had several inquiries about building this, so here it is. It still Releases automatically, but now you can release it manually. Check it out and let me know what you think.

The filming is horriblyy unstable, but kind of fun to look up at his

The US Hydrofoil Association (USHA) will hold our annual elections in late November or early December. This will be our seventh election, where 5 of the 10 director positions will be filled for a two year term. The other five directors will continue in office until their terms expire at the end of 2010, at which time they may or may not choose to run again. As per our bylaws, the general membership votes for the directors, and once elected, the directors vote for which directors will be the officers (President, VP, Secretary, Treasurer).

I'm posting this now for two reasons. First, I want everyone to be aware of the process. If there are contested positions, we'll be running the election via postal mail to members 18 years old or older. Keep in mind that only current USHA members will be allowed to vote. So voters' names will be checked against the USHA / USA Waterski membership roster.

Second, we are inviting any member who chooses to be nominated to send their request to me (you can nominate yourself). Please include a short statement about what you would like to accomplish if elected as a board member (e.g., write media articles, organize local tournaments, organize clinics, expand membership, etc.). We also welcome people to help with these areas without being on the board -- in particular we need more people to organize local tournaments and flyins.

Guidelines for the board positions are below:

Who has worked to promote the sport (flyins, competitions, etc.) and wants to do more?

Who plays well with others?

Who has knowledge of the sport (flyins and competitions included)?

Who can easily conduct business via email?

Has the candidate been a continuous member of USHA since at least January 2008?

For reference, the directors who are staying on the board are:

Bryan Schumacher

Cliff Woodman

Lonnie Marchand

Mj Pohl

Brad Scott

Seeking re-election:

Alison Goin

If you are interested in being nominated for a director position, or you know someone else who is interested in being nominated, please email me by November 11th.

Thanks,

Brad Scott USHA President
