Rode my new ski yesterday. First time. I've had a sky ski since 97 when
Murph first started. The new le with a max air and fling wing is sure a
sweet ski. First ski I've ever had that needed no tuning straight from
the box. Set perfectly and fly's great. Good job Jake and comtec. Got
my ski with all Cinch accessories. The foot wraps are very comfortable
and your feet feel secure. Alot better than the rubber toe pieces. I'm
sure Lonnie will sell alot of them when the word gets out. Now I'f I
could just get this old dog to learn a new trick without getting hurt.

The N.W. Flyin is just over a week away!!!! I'm looking forward to seeing everyone and skiing with old friends. I want to remind everyone this is a sanctioned event and everyone participating needs to be a USAW member or sign up for temporary membership at the event. Everyone bringing a boat to use during the flyin will need proof of the $500,000 liability insurance with USAW named as an addition insured. Now is the time to call your agent and make sure this is all taken care of.
The long range forecast is for great weather and smooth water.
Only three more day's to vacation. We are heading out on Monday but I will have my cell phone so give me a call with ant questions. Ken

The problem with sending this kind of thing out to a ton of people is that someone is actually going to do some homework & see if it’s for real.

I certainly would love for it to be true. But you know what they say about “if it’s too good to be true….. it probably is”.

Please keep it on topic in the Hydrofoil Group.

New Product Demo

We have made arrangements with some of the product manufacturers to have their latest products on-hand for you to try - at no cost to you!  Just fill out a little bit of paperwork and go take it for a spin.  It'll be yours for 2 hours.  No need to go ask somebody you don't know that well and no need to worry about leaving them without a ride.  Plus, This way you get to ride the product as the manufacturer designed it -  without any personal modifications.  On hand will be products from Geno Yauchler, Foiltech & Xtreme Foils.

Hi guys,
A few years ago we went down to Canyon Lake, Ca and saw the area.  Properties have really come down a lot and we were wondering if anybody on the list owns property in this area.  I remember Murphy and Jake used to Sky Ski there in the early days, but I haven't talked with either of them for a while.  Any inputs on what people think of that area for Sky Skiing or for having another vacation home?

Consider the price of the hydrofoil, and the conditions in which you want it to hold.  You could strap it up there with a couple of bungee cords and some foam padding if you want to do it that way.  But I pay $300-400 for a rack for my snow skis, which cost around $1000 a pair

It's ridiculous how much it costs to get something to simply hold your
hydrofoil on your tower.

Jeff,
They will be much easier to learn out in the flats. You can control line tension much easier out there... behind the boat, the line tension can be very strong, and pull you over... a wake 360 is a pretty technical trick.

I'm about to start trying 360's for a second time. first time around I was getting them decent enough but without any ride aways at 18mph, much softer falls, andhave got the motion and all that down. What I'd like to know is if it's easier to attempt 360's off the wake either inside to outside the wake, wake to wake, or out in the flats. Last time I only tried in the flats and I would love to hear some pros and cons for both.

I always prefer to spend "less" than "more", but in the end the cost of a
swivel rack is only about 2-3 weekends worth of gas in your boat....

Once they're selling 10,000 of them a year, I'm sure they'll cost a lot
less. Until then, they're basically making them by hand in small batches, so
the cost is going to be high.

Yes and no. When you look at the quality of the Comptech rack and how well
it is made and all the work that goes into it, then start looking at how you
can use it for 10 years, and it will still work just as well, it doesn't
seem so bad.

Compared to what it costs to own/run your boat for a season, and seeing how
well it protects your foil, plus the convenience of the swivel, it looks
fairly cheap. I've never heard of someone buying one and saying, "well that
was a mistake." Once you get it, you will appreciate having it very much.

Compared to all the fun you have riding the foil, anything associated seems
worth it ...

I ride an Le 38, weigh 230 lbs and ride at 22 mph. I do consistant
gainers in the flats and can jump what feels to be high. I would say work
on your form while jumping and you will have more gains than by speeding
up. Speed helps (also hurts worse) but form is the best kept sectret.

Hi everyone,

Just throwing some feelers out there to see if anyone would be
interested in joining us at Norris this September? I'm running a
houseboat trip for my local ski club (Cincy Ski Club) and we have 3
Luxury houseboats out of Flat Hollow Marina
(http://www.flathollowmarina.com/new_houseboats.php) and room for at
least 10 to 12 people. This is not a sanctioned Hydrofoil event but we
have a lot of skiers, barefooters, boarders and me (the only
hydrofoiler)! We could definitely use more foilers, this is a
beautiful lake and there are very few people that foil here and I
don't do the sport justice!

The cost is not too bad at $400 which includes all your food, lodging
and as much skiing/foiling we can fit in a weekend. We have a DJ and
party on saturday night and a ton of dancing! Oh, forgot to mention
that this is our Pirate weekend and Pirate attire for the party is
highly encouraged!

You can find out more information by checking out our website
(http://web.mac.com/jeffschaber/Cincy_Ski_Club_Pirate_Weekend/Cincy_Ski_Club_Hou\
seboat_Trip___Pirate_Weekend.html)
and some of the pictures and video from last year.

Contact me here or at my email (iflyrv6@...) or cell (859) 760-4044

This year we're using much larger boats and having a hard time filling
the third one (we have 34 currently signed up and each boat sleeps 16).

If you are interested in bringing your boat, boat owners do not pay
for lodging, food or gas and we could use two boats.

Hi,
How fast do you ride? I have been going about 22 mph and I am totally
in control at this speed. Good jumping and landing. If I want more
height, how fast should I go? What is normal? What is fast? How fast
should I go to back flip? Thanks.

22 mph should be fine for the average rider. How big a guy are you? Have you tried doing gainer dismounts without the handle?

If your totally in control at that speed, step it up one or two mph & see how things work.
