Water temp was 53 and the air temp was about the same. I got a
Barefoote International suit for Christmas and it kept me nice and
dry. Had a great time.

A low res clip is on its way.  I have been riding my new Bombardier 800 ATV and haven't touched video editing toys lately.  I'll be down skiing with Brad in Florida soon.  Come see it live.

Possibly we have different programs in Europe and the US. Last
Wednesday night on National Geographic TV chanel there was an
interview with M.Murphy, quite a long video with his riding and they
also told about the hydrofoil ski. Before it and later they talked
about different rare ships, like those with wings like an airplane,
only flying 1 m above the surface, also hydrofoil ships.

Hey all.

Thanks a million for all your' replies - I've got lots, and all very helpful. You guys are truly awesome! :D

I've had an e-mail from Lonnie, and he's offered his help! So has Cliff from Team Hydrofoil, Tim from Eastcoast and Phil Dixon from Florida. At the moment, the hopes are high for the E-bay auction - can't wait till it's closed! :-)

Have a great New Years to everyone, and I'll keep you updated!

Can you guys still get out on the water even though it's winter over in the US?? I guess not in the Northern parts, may be further South? Hope it's not a stupid question.....

Dima :-)

Last June I had a couple of attemps at an Air Chair, got bitten by the bug and since I've been trying to track one down in NZ. Unfortunatelly, you can't buy them over here, so I don't have one yet... Really want one though....

Hey there Dave and.. Dave :-)

If you ever make it out to NZ, give me a shout! We'll organise some stuff for you.

Yeah - that looks like the biz! I bet you that the auction price will go up like crazy just before it ends though. The problem is that the guy won't ship to NZ, as you mentioned. Do you know anyone on the board that would be happy to re-direct it for me? And I guess I'd also need the actual hydrofoil too...

Any ideas?

Note that is a board only with no foil and ships only to US.
I'm sure someone on the list will be able to figure out how to get you a hydrofoil shipped.

New Zealand is way cool.  Wish I lived there.

Hello All,

Due to a recent career change, January 3rd being my first day on the new job(Managing a boat dealership selling MasterCraft, Four Winns & Premier Pontoons), we will not be able to attend the NW Fly-In as we had planned. :-(

We have already booked and paid for the "Uppity Oar House" cabin for Friday & Saturday nights.  If someone would like to be gauranteed this cabin, I will sell it directly to you.  Otherwise, I am going to just cancel the reservation.  I wanted to offer it here first.  Email me off-list or call me at 912-258-0432.

Maybe next year we will be able to make it, as we both were looking forward to it.

Thanks and ya'll have fun!

Cliff

Air Sling from an intermediate point of view The airsling has a weight ratio shock; it does not allow random slack. A stretchy rope gives-continuously; that many of us know from experience causes a very uneven ride, often resulting in loss of balance & face plants. It’s design even assists intermediate riders to float [I do get my share of air]. When I first used it they were surprise that I had the pull to make the airsling load, as no adjustment was made for my weight, but I do know how to load the line. Within my second ride using it I could play with it, enriching my ride. Just 2 cents from ‘fish food’ experience.

Bob, I think the main difference will be that the stretchy rope stretches when you don't want it to.  For instance, when you land and bottom the board on the water, the rope will stretch and recoil, pulling you out the front or at least making you have to make definite recovery counter moves (e.g. unintentional double jumps).  The air sling is designed to only sling shot you when it is loaded up.  So your theory that the stretchy rope might give you more air could be true if you load it up, the big problems surface when you land.

I've never used an air sling, but I did use the wrong ropes at one point.

Just an observation, a stretchy rope is not consistent in its stretch and over time, becomes more "stretched" and therefore less stretchy.  That lack of consistent loading is probably overcome by using the Airsling because it will load up consistently, and, even though, "flexible", produces a more "rigid" flex.  I am not an engineer (but I can spell it), but that is what makes sense to me.

I hope you didn't put any lights on it... at least not plugged in while you
ride. You may try putting some on for the Texas Fly-In though, for some shock
therapy.

So, why doesn't it work that way with a stretchy rope?
I understand that the extra height might be a
benefit, but it would seem to me that if it's able to
"sling" you up, then it has to be giving a little on
take off. That doesn't seem like it would be a good
thing.

Bryan,
ok. Sorry I went off on you like that. Next time
I'll find it more funny.

I have a new wheelie bag without the foil cover that I am going to throw on ebay. Just thought I'd see if someone on the list needed one before I did. It is the redesigned larger bag so your foil and ski will fit in the bag together (B39 and LE 38 will fit). I'll take $125.00 for it. Contact me off the list if you want it.
Hope everyone had a Merry Christmas (I know Santa was good to some of you)
Wishing everyone a Happy New Year
Tim

I will be relocating next week or two from the nashville area down to Atlanta, GA... I will be working in the Roswell and Alpharetta area.  I am sad for the move because of the great friends i have become to know and love in the nashville and Tennessee area.  I am looking forward to making new friends in the Atlanta area.  I am just trying to get a jump start on who is in the area.  I want to thank all those that have taken me into their homes, families and being apart of the sky ski family here.  Thanks Brian and Diane Hopkins in Pickwick,  Carl and Cricket Gooch in pick wick,  I have really enjoyed getting to know you all and thanks for having me into your home and apart of your family.  I will eventually be back to the TN area, but for the time being, a work promotion that entails a quick move is awaiting me.  Jim posey in Winchester (Tims Ford Lake)...If you are ever in the area to get to ski with these wonderful folks, dont pass up the opportunity...I will miss TN for the time being and will miss the great weekends with all you... I will try to get back during the summer and should be at the TN fly in June as well.  I will still have the same phone number.  I also have a second cell number.

I hope you all have a great new year and look forward to getting back to see you all.

No. Of course not. Bryan, you are either trying to
start something from nothing or you
have trouble with reading retention. Since I know
that you would never try to start trouble,
I will assume it's more of a reading retention
problem.
I said "It seems to me like the AirSling would cause a
performance drop in the same way that a stretchy
(rope) would."
I then added "Maybe there's something about it that I
don't understand."
Just for you Bryan, I will explain that last part.
The last part was more of a question even though
it ended with a period. In other words, I'm hoping
that someone explains to me how something
that gives a little can cause a gain in performance.
It would seem to me like the AirSling would
act like a stretcy rope, but I could be completely
wrong. Is that clear enough for you Bryan?
