is if I can't get my case machined to accept a bearing sleeve. Any help

1976 360 XC: Came with a Gurtner carb. I want to use a Mikuni. The
Mikuni does not clamp on to the manifold like a Gurtner or a Bing.
Does the Mikuni manifold bolt to the engine, just like the Bing
manifold? Is there any difference in the bolt pattern? Where can I get
a Mikuni manifold? Does anybody have a Mikuni or a Bing for sale? Does
anyone need a Gurtner 38mm, stock factory carb on the 1976 360 WR
Cross Country, GP, magnesium engine.

You should have a 38 mikuni and a 390 main jet the slide is correct at 2.0. Check your reeds too, the needle to start should be in the seconde slot from the top. This settings would give you a good start.

Hello All,

I have a problem, My 83 aircooled wr250 runs rough and i'm pretty
sure the carb is setup wrong or is the incorrect size. The bike
starts easily and sounds good when reving, but when I puul away and
increase the revs it splutters and coughs, like the 2 stroke is
horribly starved. I have tried moving the needle with no real
improvement.

I have a Mikuni 40mm roundslide (1083)

It has the following settings:

Main Jet-  44H (440)
Needle Jet- ?
Idle Jet-  45
Air Jet-   2.0
Needle-   6DH20
Throttle (Slide) 2.0

Tom form this forum suggested these as stock settings:

Main Jet- 450
Needle Jet- P-8
Idle Jet- 45
Air Jet- 2.0
Needle- 6F16
Throttle (Slide) 2.0
Needle Position- #4 from top
Air Screw opening from bottom- 1.5 turns

I have just called my Mikuni supplier and he thought:
- That a 40mm carb could be to big.
- 450 is probably to large a main
- Needle Jet- P-8 only fits upto 38mm.

Can anyone confirm what the standard carb size and settings are ?
If not what works for you on the same or similar (CR) bike.

Many Thanks

Regards

Dave

Engine looked pretty good but jug and head were off. No rust that I could see and had been stored inside. I'd guess it was fine. Frame had been stored outside and was under some grown over berry bushes. Forks looked OK. Front rim original. Back was alumn but not orig. Tank was painted all black but looked pretty straight. Not much else there. No seat. Best just to consider it only a motor, orig pipe, frame, tank and wheels.

Not a great buy in my mind but to someone looking for a 125, maybe interesting. BTW, he had the title.

Greetings Gang,

I've posted some photo's of a Husky I found in a barn loft. They are in the McCook folder. I haven't spoken to the owner yet as I understand he's currently out of the country. What I know so far is that the engine turns free, seems to have good compression and it's an auto with 1300 miles on the odometer. Any help on identifying it and what it's worth would be welcome. Thanks!

Michael,

It looks like a 1981 to me assuming it's fairly stock. It has the '81
forks and side panels. I'm pretty sure that the '81 Autos didn't get
the new style gas tank that the others models did, so the older style
rectangular style would be appropriate. That's about as much help as I
can be right now.

Thanks George,

I was only in this barn log enough to snap these 3 pics, and there is very little room to move as you can tell by the shots. I'm going to try to get back there this week to get the numbers. If I can move some things around I can probably get better pics too!

have to help you out on that one.  (maybe post a few more pics?)

Good luck

Here are 3 more pics of the freshly redone '72 WR450.

For what it is worth, there is a pic of a '76 elsinore that we did about 2 months ago.

All my bikes are ridden often in the cascade mountains. Lots of woods trails and logging roads.

Also, I want to let everyone know that I am now on the hunt for a '71 or '72 CZ 380 yellowtank. I had one when I was 18 and want to get another one. If you have any leads on one, please let me know.

It would look like this one.

Thanks all and ride safe,

Robert

Greetings Gang,

I've posted some photo's of a Husky I found in a barn loft. They are in the McCook folder. I haven't spoken to the owner yet as I understand he's currently out of the country. What I know so far is that the engine turns free, seems to have good compression and it's an auto with 1300 miles on the odometer. Any help on identifying it and what it's worth would be welcome. Thanks!

Michael

Thanks Steve,
I'm with you on the typo's, 40 year old machinist hands don't work
real well either.
As far as the adoption goes I'm currently looking for a rich uncle…
lol.
I thought that since my dad bought me my first motorcycle (Honda SL
70) it would be only right for me too return the favor 37 years
later.

Thanks, Jeff
