I'll be out there early, around 4. We'll keep this one light, go over some last-minute specifics. Talk about strategy and tactics and the differences therein. Or something like that.
Dinner at my place starts at 7. We'll discuss rides at dinner, so please try to come by at least for a bit.
As we have mentioned earlier, financial reasons should not prohibit you
from attending regionals. There are methods of subsidy that humpfreeze
can offer you, contact Andy Wade or me for more details.

Looks like bad weather Saturday morning. Plan on coming out either way — we can always do layouts in the rain! I can give rides in my sweet van if you call early enough.
Fellow Humpers: One week 'til Regionals! And we have two exciting additions to our roster: Elle and Megan. AND, Megan's aunt has graciously offered her place for us trash. Sweet.
Still working out our rides. There are 12 of us driving there, so we're gonna have three cars. Jack's car is leaving Thursday evening, so we need two more cars — Jaffe? Nockels? Jake? One car needs to leave around 1-ish. The other should probably leave earlier, say, 9 or 10 a.m. Here's what I got so far (tentative, of course):
Car No. 1 (leavng Thursday evening)
Jack
Cricket
Megan
Dulce
Car B (leaving Friday a.m.)
Ian
Jake
James
Elle
Car The Third (leaving Friday 1 p.m.)
Shakey
Boyle
Nockels
Rosi
Flying
Andy
Kristine
Cory
Remember, it's about 10 hours of drive time, plus stops. And we lose an hour going to Mountain Time. Jack, you'll probably need to make an airport run around 10 p.m. We'll deal with return rides once we're in Denver, but one car needs to be back in Flag by 8 a.m. That means leaving Denver by 8 p.m. Sunday.
Just so everyone's aware, Dulce and Elle are not on our roster, which means they're not allowed to play with HF. They're basically going to sub for Amber and Emily for the weekend. I don't think this'll be a problem, but there might be some repercussions if we're found out. Basically, let's just keep this our little secret. Good deal.
Now then: We have TWO practices left until Regionals, so let's really make them count. I'm open to suggestions about what we should work on. Perhaps some more zone work. Maybe a split stack refresher. And more endzone work is always good. And even if you're not feeling healthy enough to play, just being there can help the team in a big way.
After our last practice Wednesday, I'll be hosting a team dinner at my place. I'll have burgers, brats and fixins. Bring a side dish or a dessert if you like.

New Belgium is in Ft Collins, a little over an hour away. If you're headed there then make sure to hit Odell's brewery - way better beer than fat tire. Also Big City Burrito next to campus.
Good luck,
Dave

Hey dudes. There's a lot going on tomorrow morning, including a marathon. We're still having practice at 11 a.m. We'll take it easy, especially on you marathoners. Try to make it out, even if you don't cleat up. We'll have a lot to talk about, like how awesome Ian's party is right now. Plus more zone.
P.S. I couldn't get out of work on Friday, so I bought a flight from Flag to Denver. Not sure if I'll be flying or driving back. We can talk more about Regionals plans at practice tomorrow. Like, does anybody know where we can stay? And, how far away is the New Belgium Brewery?
Hey yall. Let's get sevens on Wednesday. We're starting earlier — 4:30.
We had a good practice on Saturday. Spent a lot of time on the zone. Jaffe, Shakey, Kristine and Ian developed a trapping cup that seemed to work really well. Of course, in order to really develop a zone, we gotta have a full squad. When it comes to zone or a new offense — or anything, really — it's all about reps. So let's all get out there early to get ready to run. Wednesday, 4:30, Thorpe. Spread the word. And the love.
As Jaffe pointed out a few days ago, the bid to Regionals will only be $250 — that's a mere $20 a person. If we're wise about gas and food, we'll be just fine. (If anyone needs to talk finances, call me to work it out. And remember, we're all Freddie & Fannie shareholders now). I looked at 12-person vans, but they weren't too affordable.
As far as rides go, all cars should leave Flag by midday Friday. If some people can leave at the crack of dawn or even Thursday night, that would be great. ABQ is about halfway, so a good spot to rest & eat Frontier Burritos.
Jack's volunteered to drive, so we just need two more cars.
If anyone is thinking about flying, we can pick up from the airport. But it won't be cheaper.
I guess that's it for now. See yall Wednesday at 4:30.
So as you probably have noticed I haven't been attending much in the way of HF events (practice included). I will most likely continue not to show and just wanted to let people know that I most likely won't be playing for humpfreeze at all (barring a few random appearances). There are a few reasons for this and if anyone wanted to hear them I'd much rather talk to in person.
Hope this isn't a shock and/or hurts the team, that was not my intention.
Give me a shout if you want
This isn't "good bye" but more like "see ya around."

Yo.
I talked to most everyone on HF tonight about the future of the team, and got some varied responses. I really wanted to speak with everyone individually so I could get an honest response about how everyone felt. And I'm glad we were all able to speak candidly.
It sounds like everyone is in favor of continuing practice. That's awesome.
And while most everyone said they would like to go to Regionals, financial issues and other commitments are huge obstacles. That wasn't unexpected. Despite the obstacles, I think the most telling response was that everyone said they WOULD like to go.
In addition to the phone calls, Kristine, Rosi, the Bens and I had a little powwow tonight at Püptown. The biggest idea we discussed was overcoming these obstacles. That's why these barriers are there — so we can bust them down. When something says, "Nope, you can't do this," you gotta say "Fuck that, I want it and I'm going to do it." There's so much we can do in terms of fundraising and defraying costs. Based on the turnout on Sunday, there's a whole ultimate community just begging to donate to our cause. There are hundreds of family members and friends just waiting to do us a favor. There are dozens of baked goods just waiting to be sold ...
To us Humpers, ultimate is more than just a hobby. It is quite literally the lifestyle that each of us has chosen to live. I couldn't imagine my life without playing — you could say I almost survive on it. Each of us has already made sacrifices to commit to playing ultimate for this team. And if each of us pushes just a little harder, we can make Regionals happen.
A point was brought up in our powwow — If Regionals was in ABQ, there would be no question about going — our bid would already be sent. So really, it's just a question of driving an extra 5 or 6 hours and buying 2 extra tanks of gas. This means getting a little less sleep and possibly doing homework in a cramped car, but these are a few sacrifices we should be willing to make. We can't just not play because it takes a few extra hours and a few extra dollars to do it.
Enough inspirational talk — here's the lowdown. I e-mailed the Regionals Coordinator about the price of the bid, but I have no idea what it'll be at this point. I should know more tomorrow. Based on a $400 bid (and free lodging with a wonderful host), we calculated that everything for the tourney — bid, gas, meals — would add up to $130 a person. Before freaking out, realize that this number is not excessively high. For a trip to Denver with friends and playing a sport we love, it shouldn't be too much.
Some more thoughts:
I also asked the RC about the format of Regionals as far as guaranteed games. I will forward this along when I hear back.
Regionals isn't full of teams like Barrio. Barrio is a nationals-caliber team — the sixth best in the country, in fact. We are going to play very competitively with every team at Regionals. We're not just going to get a taste of Regionals while getting smacked around by Barrio-caliber teams. We're going so we can play intense games, and we're hopefully going to win a few games.
Regionals is 26 days from today. That's a long-ass time. Long enough to prepare for a tourney; save up some cash; inform everyone about a commitment and plan around potential conflicts.
I told everyone that I wouldn't be heartbroken if HF didn't go to Regionals, and that still holds true. But I couldn't live with myself if we didn't at least TRY to make this happen. The opportunity is there — all we've got to do is overcome obstacles. Together, let's make it happen.
Info from regionals coordinator Cost for tourney:~250 # of Games: at least 6, max 9 I can look into contacting some Ulti people from Denver that can either help direct us to camp sites or host us.
As andy said, lets find a way to make this happen.

I said pretty much all I wanted to say on the field today, but I want to reiterate how proud and pleased I was with this team today. We had great — GREAT — points on O and on D against the 6th-best mixed team in North America. That's fucking spectacular. We didn't hang our heads when things didn't go our way, we made adjustments to play better, and we picked each other up when somebody needed a lift. That's what teams do, and ours is awesome.
Thanks especially to Ben for organizing the game and the ensuing funtivities; to Cory for using us as an excuse to get away from Kentucky; to Amber, Lauren, Emily and Jake and everyone who pushed themselves even though they weren't feeling 100 percent; to Barrio for an intense, spirited game; and to all our friends and family that came out to cheer us on.
We are gonna run practice this week, Wednesday at 5 and Saturday at 11, but we'll keep it light as we all continue to recover.
As for the rest of the season: Things are a little up in the air. I'm going to call everyone over the next couple of days, and we'll talk about what we want to do. As we all know, HumpFreeze has qualified for Regionals, which are Oct. 11-12 in Commerce City (right by Denver). I would love to go, and I know several others who want to go, too. It will no doubt be a great ultimate experience for HF as a team and for everyone individually as we keep learning and improving our games. But I realize some of us have money constraints as well as other commitments. I don't yet know how much the bid costs, but historically it's been spendy. And Denver is a good 10-hour drive. So that's the main thing we'll talk about over the phone this week: How we feel about going to Regionals and about the rest of the season. It's been wonderful summer so far, and Sunday was just about the best day I've ever had in Flag.

Holla. Hell of a weekend. Please try to come out for the last practice. And obviously we need everyone out for Sectionals. My phone is back in working order — (847) 716-0578 — so please call. Peace.
Hey Andy, If it is not already apparent, I am not going to be playing this weekend because of my same injury. Thanks for all the hard work you've done and for putting it all together. I will be busy with the Sustainable Living Fair all weekend, but hopefully will come over and watch, cheer ya'll on, and party on Sunday. Good luck amigo, Sly

Long time no huck. I just wanted to inform you all, because I am sure you will be asking about me, that sadly I could not make it this weekend. It may be because I am scared, or because I just got into a car accident this morning on my way to work and need to spend this weekend searchin for a new car. Anyways I really do wish I could be there this weekend to D some jack, school some andy, or beat some Bens, but alas, there is always regionals!

[HumpFreeze] You're invited to a celebration of Ultimate
Its sectionals time again, and its going down in your local neighborhood. That's right this Sunday, September 14th, Humpfeeze is taking on the dreaded pirate-hooker, Barrio, at 1100am at the Thorpe (B) soccer fields. I am inviting you to come support your local club team, drink some
booze, and eat some 'ideal'-cooked food. The booze (Quality) arrives at noon, the food starts cooking at 1230, and pick up starts 100pm. There is no charge, but a recommended donation of 5 dollars is on the table. I hope you all can make it out and support Flagstaff Ultimate.
Cheers,
B
PS.
I need you to call me if you have access to the following: a Shade tent a Costco card

I will be at the Thorpe soccer field this Saturday morning, 11 am,
doing some of the running and throwing. So if you aren't in Santa Fe
this weekend and feel like doing some Ulti related workout come on out.

Sorry for the late notice, but practice has been moved to Wednesday at 5 p.m. No practice Tuesday. Same for next week. Try to spread the word — we only have 2 practices until Sectionals, so let's try to have good turnout and focus.
Hot playing in Durango. Way to represent FLAGSTAFF!

Hey Yo,
So sectionals is coming up and as you may already know, we are
hosting it in flagstaff. Im looking for a few people to help me
organize things so stuff runs smoothly, and everyone has a lot of fun.
Since it is only one game, my plan is to have it become a big
ultimate bbq (f' barrio), with a keg from flag brew, and enough food
to feed the entire flagstaff ultimate community. I think it would be
great to include all the college kids (especially the incoming
froshes), townies, etc...and have just a party, play some pickup
afterwards, and get people pumped about ultimate again.
In order to pull it off, I need your help with procuring food, basic
medical supplies, water, talking it up, etc... Shoot out an email
today if you can help, and I want to have a quicky meeting tomorrow
(Wed) about what needs to be done.
