Re: [HumpFreeze] HF captains

Good points, Bala. We did talk about college players' commitments at the meeting earlier this month, but it definitely merits further discussion between captains, once they're elected.

I think we all agree that all Humpers should play for us in the fall series. If someone plans to play with a college team for the fall series, that person shouldn't play with HF during the summer. I believe (and hope) that was a consensus opinion from the returning players. I think the captains should flesh out these details in the next few weeks.

Along the lines of commitment: There's no denying that Flagstaff has a "flaky" reputation. Whether it's seasonal jobs, love of travel, or the college semester schedule, people are in and out of town all the time. This is not something we want to punish, per se. We don't want to hold anyone back from a great opportunity, but players' presence (or lack of it) affects how we can grow as a team. "Being There" is about 95 percent of "Commitment." That's why we're having all the captain nominees explain their summer plans; it should be an important factor in how everyone votes. Again, more discussion on this is needed between captains. But everyone should be thinking about their summer plans, their commitment to the team, and the commitment of their choices for captains.

Andy

P.S. I'll be at the Field House from 11 to noon Tuesday or so to run/toss/shoot hoops
