For the record, I've cut several people (Xenia, Marcy, Danskey, Bronze, etc.) off the HF listserv. 

JAN. 13 MINUTES

In attendance: Andy, Ian, Shakey, Jaffe, Jake, Kristine, Cricket, Rosi, Megan, Emily, Booboo. 

Couldn't make it but e-mailed me with interest in the season: Jimmy C., Dave Hansen.

Kristine: More strict with attendace to define team better. Clearly define pickup and practice

Cricket: Set dates and times for practice early so everyone can make time.

Emily: Seven-person practices were GOOD. As long as those people are committed, it can be a good practice.

Ian: Establish days for practice and pickup

Shakey: Pickup becomes HF's problem when randos start showing up to practice bc it's the only game in town.

Ben: can't reserve fields; too late.

Booboo: Pickup is an essential component of Flagstaff. We can't abandon it. 

Shakey: Pickup builds on itself. It'll get better week after week

Practice: "Concepts" better than "working on throws." Keep it simple but mix it up. Lots of reps. 

LEAGUE: Nothing's official, but it should run from late April to mid-June. (Jaffe's got more numbers, but we're hoping for 4-5 teams and ~80 players.) Great to recruit potential Humpers. HF practices only once a week during league. 

FLAG TOURNAMENT: Again, nothing's official yet. But Jaffe has submitted the bid for a mixed tournament of up to 12 teams. Should be in late June. Could be a great starting point for HF "season." 

(League and Tournament are separate from HF. If you're interested in assisting with League or Flag Tourney, call Jaffe)

Other tournaments (dates not set): Potlatch (7/4), GRUB (7/18), Atomic Blast (7/25), Ski Town (8/8), Sectionals (Sept.), Regionals (Oct.)

Some Other Notes From Me:

Who's here this summer? When can we know? If someone's taking all of July off to go build igloos in Antarctica, how does that affect that person's commitment? 

Communication: Can improve from last year. Getting started early. 

Commitment: We've gotta count on each other. Accountability. 

Roster: Needs to be established (Who;s on team, who's not.) After a certain point, practices must be closed to only those on team. 

College guys: Are a bunch of assholes. Can we count on them? Should we bother?

Recruiting: Can we expand our roster? Do we need to? 

Gathering Outside Practice: Team dinners, barbecues, game nights, bowling, poker, trips

JERSEYS!!!! 

Captains: Nominated were Shakey, Andy, Cricket, Kristine, Ian, Emily and Jaffe. Jaffe declined nomination. Details of how to nominate, vote and decide on captains were discussed. Detailed e-mail about this to follow shortly. More nominations (from returning players only) will be accepted through Tuesday, Jan. 20. Go Obama.
