Answering a question from Yesterday's email...
You do NOT have to be within the City Limits of Hueytown, just within
the Hueytown School Zone. Any child zoned to go to a Hueytown school,
including Concord elementary, where the student will then go to
Hueytown Middle School upon graduation, may play in a Hueytown Park.
This answer came from our Commissioner, Shannon Morrison.
Any updates on this will be emailed.
Thanks for your support.

This is some information that I was asked to email out to the email
list by our commissioner.
The Hueytown City Council has passed new requirements that we must now
follow. We have always prided ourselves on providing the best program
for any and all girls to play fastpitch softball. However, we are
bound by the Hueytown Park & Recreation Board requirements in order to
Lease our park to provide this program.
We changed the organization by which we play in order to allow all
girls, in any city, to play at our park. But, due to the recent
motions that were made by the Hueytown Park & Rec board in 2007, we
will no longer be able to accept any NEW registrations from any girl
who lives outside the Hueytown City Limits unless they participated in
our 2007 Softball program or any other Hueytown program.(i.e.
Baseball, Soccer, or Cheerleading)
The Hueytown Fastpitch Board does not necessarily agree with these new
requirements but, have to abide by them. The following are the
registration requirements that have to be met in order to allow any
girl to register for the 2008 Sring Season:
1.) Must complete a registration form, and must be signed by parent or
guardian.
2.) A new player who wishes to register must provide a COPY of a deed,
lease, or current utility bill showing player resides in the Hueytown
city limits. (The park will keep copy with registration form of youth.)
3.) Any new player who does not live in the Hueytown city limits and
did not participate in the Hueytown Fastpitch program or another
Hueytown program in 2007 will not be allowed to register.
4.) Any returning player who does not live in the Hueytown City
Limits, must have proof that they participated in the Hueytown
Fastpitch program or another Hueytown program in the 2007 season (i.e.
registration form from the program) This falls under the Grandfather
Clause motion of January 2007.
We still pride ourselves on providing the best program for each and
every girl that plays at our park. If you do not agree with the Park &
Rec. Boards decisions, let them know. The city council meetings are
open to the public, and any concerns should be brought to them. What's
good for our park is good for our children, and what's good for our
park should be good for all parks.
Thanks for your continued support in YOUR organization. We look
forward to an exciting, and competetive 2008 season! If you have any
questions or concerns feel free to e-mail me at sweetjaguar2008@....

Website at www.hueytownfastpitch.com has details and Fall rules.
At 6pm we will have closing ceremonies at Allison Bonnett park.
It's been a wonderful season yet again. There was confusion because
of rule changes, the season seemed rushed at times because of the NSA
schedule vs the old Dixie Schedule, but we got through it. And the
girls improved as the season went on.
Last night, the 10U champion was decided. The Red Hot Chilli Peppers,
our second half champion beat the first half champion, The Bama Girls.
It was a good game and I'm sure there will be many All Stars off
those two teams.
Tonight we'll find out who won all divisions. To find out the 6U
you'll have to stay over and watch the championship game with the rest
of us!!
This season has been like that. Close games, championships, fun,
memories...
Remember the good parts of this season because that's what you should
take with you as your child grows up. The good memories...
Thanks to all of the parents who helped the board do an outstanding job.
We've got new carpet (it'll get completed as the busy season ends),
new redrock in the cages, 2 new batting machines, and around $20,000
to do improvements with for next year.
Just to let you know, the money came from fundraising. Our
registration has stayed the same for at least the last 6 years (the
time I've been here) and the fund raising this year has been the least
intrusive on our parents. I know that you'll appreciate that.
We would have to go up at least $60 per child to break even without
that fund raising. And that would not include improvements. For your
help, the 2007 board would like to thank you.
As I come to the end of my term as treasurer I personally would like
to thank you. You have made the last few years a joy. My daughters
have loved this park and it has seemed like a second home at times.
Sydney will begin as a 6U next year and I hope to have the joy of
coaching her as well, in the Hueytown Tradition.
Thank you,
Gary Wray
2007 Treasurer
The last day of registration will be this Saturday (February 10th)
from 10am to 2 pm at the Hueytown City Hall.
Don't forget to register for Hueytown's best!
We are preparing for the 2007 Spring Softball Season.
Registration will be January 27th, February 3rd and February 10th at
the Hueytown City Hall from 10am to 2pm.
Our cost is still the same and the lowest anywhere around!
1st player - $95
2nd player - $85
3 or more - $75 each
Registraion after the February 10 subject to a $10 late registration fee.
This year Hueytown Fastpitch Softball will be sanctioned as a NSA League .
A few changes you may notice are 10U (angels) will be allowed to steal
1 base at a time. This should quicken the game, make it more fun for
the girls and prepare them for 12U when they can steal all bases.
12U pitching goes to the 12" ball at 40 feet preparing them for school
ball.
All Stars end in June so if you make all stars you aren't giving up
your whole summer.
Of course we will continue to play as we always have in the park.
Opening day will be March 3rd complete with parade as always!
I hope you will once again be a part of the Hueytown Softball
Tradition. Please be sure to tell all of your friends because this
should be a GREAT season of Softball!!
For more information go to www.hueytownfastpitch.com or call 205-612-3082.
PLAY HARD! HAVE FUN!
Just to give you an idea of what the Hueytown Board is about.
We spend countless days at the park before, during, and after the
season.
We cut grass, install air conditioners, paint, pull weeds, work on
equipment, attend registrations, take part in fund raisers, run
tournaments (other than those that our players are in) to serve as
fundraisers for the park, we count money, do accounting, clean
bathrooms & concession stands, empty trash, and countless other jobs
around the park.
We take criticism, both verbal and on our website (which was also
built and is updated by a board member at no charge to the park).
But we have a great salary! The payment that we receive is the smiles
on the girls faces when they are playing at the park. The knowledge
that we are doing what we can to keep the gates open and the lights on.
We are proud of our park and are willing to do what it takes to keep
it running.
We have several open positions for people who are willing to help.
You won't get rich working at Hueytown Softball, but you'll get a
great satisfaction in knowing that you've helped over 200 girls per
season.
Check out the positions below. If you are interested in helping, then
drop me an email at webmaster@... and I'll call you
to get more information and to answer any questions you may have.
The Board needs you, The Park needs you and most importantly, the KIDS
need you.
Thanks for your consideration!
