AUGUST 19-BASEBALL....To some only a word..to some just a game..to most a
part of their lives and the United States. No its not curing cancer, but it
means so much to so many. It's been beaten up over the years and survived
wars, gambling scandals, drug addiction and strikes. And yet it continues to
fasinate and entertain Americans of all ages, all races, all religions,
EVERYONE. Because for 9 glorious innings and 2 and a half hours we all come
together. It's not just a game..from Bend,Oregon to Miami, Florida friends and
families join together to cheer the home team..From Pee Wee to the Majors
its a family tradition. Some 300 major and minor league teams make summer the
season for a purpose. It lets people bond with each other and their
teams. That's why America will always enbrace Baseball as our national
passtime.Other sports may get higher ratings or draw more people but for 162
days a year we can all be kids again.Baseball is a safe place, a fun place, a
place for years of memories. Whether you ever played, worked in, or just
watched. I had the pleasure of working in Pro Baseball for 17 years. I now
work in another profession. But I will always be a part of the Baseball
fraternity. Now and Forever. It's The Field of Dreams for us all. Not just a
game..but Part of the USA...Part of our lives.....john
