Marv asked about joining our club. The answer is we haven't charged any dues for
a couple years since we haven't had any expenses. We have $402. in the First
Natl Bank in Holdrege and our races have been mostly break even. So until
something changes, all there is to join the club is just ask and just come out
and sail. We'll have some races this summer that we can charge a small amount to
cover expenses.
We have HYC membership cards anyone can have if you ask for one at a race as I
have the club info at the lake.
We should have some more small boat events, group sails, races since there are
even more small boats at the lake now. Bill Foster bought a Hobie 14 that is in
the storage lot at Pattersons. Lets get this going when the water gets warm.
Saw a new product some of you might be interested in. Its a knotmeter that
requires no intallation. The Speedpuck by Velocitek. It is a gps that looks
like a small round knotmeter and measures speed and wind shifts and compass info
as a gps, not water speed. Price $339.
Bill Foster has been out sailing a few times when the wind is reasonable. The
new owners of Patterson's are great, nothing has changed so far. The lake is
really full. Pelicans are back.
I'll talk with some of the members and suggest a club race and activity
schedule. Any ideas?? Send your thoughts out to the group.
Any time you want some crew, call or email Marv Elsberry 991-2566
