Following the email re : room sharing I feel it is only fair that I
respond to Dazza's harsh words : -
Tips for sharing with Darren " Grumpy " Tarling
1) When Darren is listing to a quiz on the radio on his " Digital
Radio" via headphone , please don't be alarmed if he suddenly shouts
out random words or phrases - he is getting interactive.
2) As Darren is approaching old age you will find that he requires
less sleep than you do and can quite often be found pacing in the
corner of the room at 6 am , he might also proclaim loudly enough to
wake you that he is going for a walk.
3) If you find you have a mirror in your room, I recommend that you
get the hotel staff to remove it so as to avoid the embarrassment of
coming back to the room and finding Darren practicing his forward
defensive wearing just his pads!
4) If Darren scores runs ( Normally > 5 ) you might also want to
invest in some ear plugs as it is likely that he will tell you about
those runs until you lapse into unconsciousness due to boredom
5) I would not buy any ear plugs , borrow them if you can as I would
not want you to waste your money as scores > 5 are rare these days.
6) If Darren is tired (bless) he can get quite uptight, I found the
best way of dealing with this is to pick up his teddy for him and
give it back to him so as to enable him to throw it again.
I hope the above is helpful to future room sharers
Regards
Kermit
Just to give you an idea of the type of weather we could expect, here
is this weeks bbc weather forecast for Ibiza;
Max day Min night
Thurs Sunny 26c 15c
Fri Sunny Intervals 25c 19c
Sat Sunny Intervals 23c 18c
Sun Sunny Intervals 22c 18c
Mon Sunny 23c 17c
And this is late October!
Morning all
Just to let you know, I've updated the club records from the averages
recieved on presentation night (sorry Peter, it doesn't show guests
runs, so I'll have to get that from Mr Freer at a later date)
A few interesting points
Kev Burgess's high score of 118* in the league this year was in fact
his highest score for the club
Kev, Taffy and Terry are having a battle royal for 14th,15th and 16th
in the all time runs scored list, with positions changing this year.
Taffy scored a thousand runs in a season for the second time, the
other time he did it was in 1996, when he was just 20!
Steve Gerrett won the bowling cup with the fewest overs in a season,
since 1997, when his Dad won it! In fact Steve, Tuna (twice) and Des
Kerr have all won the bowling cup with fewer overs than in the famous
year Eddie Wooll won it on 28 wickets by retiring in June 1986,
having only bowled 138 overs, leaving poor Mike Bigby stranded on 90
wickets and a worse average by a fraction.
In the bowling list, Steve has moved ahead of Bob in the all time
wickets list and only 12 wickets behind his dad.
Pat kept his tenth spot and held Kojak at bay after moving within a
Whisker of Dave Blacktopp. Kojak moved up another place and is only 5
wickets behind Pat.
All these records can be found at http://www.holtwhites-
trinibis.co.uk/Club%20Records.htm
