Paul leads victory charge


Holtwhites Trinibis celebrate after winning the Herts Trophy final on
Sunday
HOLTWHITES Trinibis won the Herts Trophy final on Sunday with a
superb 107-run victory over Wormley.

The Saracens Herts Lea-gue Division 5 side batted first in the final
at Shenley.

And thanks to man of the match Paul Hewitt's quickfire 76, Kyal
Bacchus Brown (53), Habib Younis (41) and Jack Tarling (34), they
made a competition-high 278.

Habib Younis (2-37) rem-oved both of the Division 4 side's openers,
and with Tar-ling (2-47), Qadir Younis (2-37) and Alex Dell (2-3) all
claiming key wickets, Worm-ley were bowled out for 171.

Skipper Mark Davis receiv-ed the trophy and a cheque for £750 to the
delight of Hol-twhites' large support.

It was a good weekend for Holtwhites as they beat Northwood 2nd by
six wickets on Saturday.

Alex Bell (2-36), Bacchus Brown (2-15) and Tarling (3-39) restricted
the visitors to 200-9 before opener Daniel Bonner (52no), Habib
Younis (53) and Bacchus Brown (29) sealed a comfortable victory.

Cockfosters claimed a seven-wicket win away to Ampthill Town to
finish fourth in Division 2.

Twin brothers Matt (5-34) and James Stead (3-17) helped bowl out
Ampthill for 128 to make it 31 wickets each for the season.

First team debutant Ian Cooper, aged 14, put on a century partnership
with Declan O'Leary (91) to guide Cockfosters to an easy win.

North Enfield secured promotion to Division 3 despite losing by four
wickets to County Hall.

They made a bad start bef-ore Stuart Halley (54), Phil MacMurdie
(37), Garry Orton (21) and Darren Atkins (22no) helped them to 174-7.

Victory would have given the Straysiders the title, but a century
stand from Graves (42) and Stevenson (60no) helped County to victory.

Northampton Exiles 2nd took the Division 11 title by a single point
after a five-wicket win over Hemel Hemp-stead 5th.

Hemel closed on 162-9 with Rizwan Qadir (2-18) and Ian Montague (3-
44) the pick of the bowlers.

Tony O'Neill (38), Amit Naik (34) and Montague (59no) then guided
Exiles to victory and the title.

Northampton Exiles beat Hertford 2nd by six runs in Division 4 to
claim a mid-table finish.

Haroon Akhtar (75 off 74 balls) led the batting for Exiles, with
Wayne Lawler (36), Tyrone Lawler (20) and Jayesh Thakkar (21) helping
them make 193 all out.

Adrian Browne claimed Exiles 1st XI's best-ever league bowling
figures of 8-40 as he helped bowl out Hertford for 187 with just four
balls remaining.
