Anyone interested in practicing this Thurs at 5 am indoors at
Westridge let me know and I'll give you a count.

Highlands is going forward with a league. Sign-ups will take place
over the next two weeks. Games will be played on Monday nights--- 9pm
and 10 pm. 4 on 4 format. Coed. Seven to a team. First game would
likely be July 10th. The Cost would likely be $25-35 per person.
Probably a max of 4 teams. 4-5 games and then play-offs. The court
dimensions are bigger than I originally thought--narrower yes, but
shorter by only 15+ yards. The administrator thinks they won't have a
problem with interest--I told him the proposed game times would help.
Non-ranchers could play.
Would our group want to sign up one team? Two? If interested let me
know tomorrow or via email ASAP to hold a spot.

Non Ranchers would have to pay $6 and show up with a Rancher--shouldn't be an issue.
If June goes well, they'll look at additional times. The 4 on 4

Don't hold me to this, but the administrator said the schedule changes
for Indoor Ulti were being made as we speak and would be effective
June 1.
He said the 4-4 league was to start in July (I guess some recent
college grads are in the mix and are pushing this hard).
If you're interested in voicing your support/interest . . . Steve Lang
is the Facility Manager at West Ridge--720 348-8211. More to come--
hopefully---Ed
The guy acted as though they were publishing a new schedule soon and wanted to add it no matter what. I can't help but think that there's not a lot of demand at 5 am--works for me because of family and work--little to no impact. I called today, I'll see what he says.

Like Jeff said, “the response would be stronger in the winter.” It would be great to be indoors in Dec, Jan, and Feb.
Assuming there was enough interest, what type of timeframe do you think Westridge is considering?

I think we should combine the sports and play inline ultimate. Now we've got something marketable.
I'm open to trying the pickup and the league.
However, I think the response will be better during winter when people don't want to play outside.

WestridgeRecCenter is considering adding a "drop in" time for Ultimate, one day a week in the early a.m. Probably 5-7 am. They're also considering a 4 on 4, 4 team league as a pilot this summer--to continue into fall and winter if the interest is there. I've thrown the disc on the arena floor after my son's hockey
practice and I think it would work pretty nicely--it takes a decent heave to get it from one end to the other--ok, that's not saying much. Steve Bernizoni is the administrator looking into it-- apparently they want to move beyond Westridge's reliance on in-line hockey and want to introduce new uses/sports and thus Ulti. He's trying to hook up with the UPA in Boulder for some guidance on how to approach it, do rules, etc. Their big question is whether the interest would be there from the broader Highlands community. Personally, I think the drop-in pick- up would be workable at the hour proposed, just another Ulti option that I could get to. I've told him about our group and he's very
interested to know what we think. E-mail me with your thoughts/interest and I'll pass it on. Ed

Just in case someone was interested – high school championships for Ultimate Frisbee this weekend in Boulder.

I've talked to a number of you about Ultimate Frisbee. Some of you are more curious, some less. Either way, I wanted to give you a chance to fill up your free time, work on your farmer's tan, and, most importantly, a chance check out a high level ultimate event so you can see what it is that dominates so much of my life.
This weekend, high school westerns (nationals for any school west of the Mississippi) is in Boulder, CO. I'll be coaching the Lakewood girls ultimate team Saturday 9am-5:30pm and Sunday 9am-2:30pm. I'll also be playing in a showcase game at the same fields 6pm-8pm (tentative times). The best games to watch should be the showcase games, hence the name. However, seeing the future stars of a sport is pretty cool too.
There should be two high level showcase games (I think at the same time):
Johnny Bravo (men's club team in Boulder, CO) versus University of Colorado Mamabird (Ranked #3 in the college rankings)
Kali (women's club team in Boulder, CO) versus University of Colorado Kali (Ranked #3 in the college rankings).
If you have any questions, let me know. I won't be able to socialize much because I'll be coaching or playing, but I'll definitely say hello to everyone I see. No need to RSVP or anything, just show up if you want to.
Indoor ultimate does sound fun, and Inline
ultimate has possibilities, but wouldn’t it be hard to stop? Maybe
we could modify that.
