The Rangers overcame some PC issues the night before and overwhelmed the Preds early in tonight's contest.  20 shots on net in the first including 9 GR chances sparked the Rangers to a 3-0 lead.  The offense continued to roll opening a 7-1 lead in the third before the Preds two top snipers (Parise, Heatley) added late goals for a 7-3 final.  Ryan Kesler had a goal and 2 assists, Mikael Samuelsson and Marek Zidlicky each had a goal and assist and Mike Comrie and Dominic Moore had 3 assists apiece.

Both big guns - Ovechkin and Kessel - score hat tricks (Ovechkin's was natural), but the refs pretty much handed this one to Boston. The Bruins converted on 4 of 8 power play chances, Anaheim converted on 2 of 4. Both goalies were really, really busy.

The Ducks led 2-0 after one, with Trent Hunter and Alex Ovechkin each scoring a goal while Anaheim outplayed and outshot Chicago 13-6.  It appeared a rout may be on, but the Black Hawks rallied as Tom Kostopoulos scored less than three minutes into the second and then set up a breakaway goal by Max Talbot midway through the frame to equalize the game at 2 apiece.  (Kotsopoulos was not credited with an assist on the goal , but did all the work to create the play).   Kiprusoff would close the door and both teams were held scoreless through the third sending this one to OT.  Alex Ovechkin made short work of the overtime period, scoring on a breakaway 1:02 of the 4th period to allow the Ducks to sweep another home stand.   Jonas Hiller had yet another spectacular game, as he continues to play all Anaheim home games, while the road duties have gone to Kari Lehtonen.  His fate has been slightly different as the Ducks are below .500 on the road.

Anaheim survived a first period onslaught and fought their way back to upstage the Montreal Canadiens in front of a sold out Honda Center. Marty St Louis scored two power play markers to give the Habs a 2-0 lead after one. special teams would cut the lead to one as Souray ripped a point shot on the Ducks power play to cut the lead to 2-1 after two periods of play.  Jason Arnott picked up the puck and balasted another outside shot goal to tie the game ar 2 early in the third.  33 seconds later, Alex Tanguay restored the Montreal lead with a breakaway goal.  It was another Alex that tied it up again, as Ovechkin broke free of a check and knotted the game at 3 apiece 6:40 into the third. It was all Anaheim in the third, outshooting Montreal 16-7, but Carey Price was stellar.  The game went to overtime, and even with the man advantage, Anaheim could get the winner past Price. This game would go to a shootout, and a lenghtly one at that.  The first four shooters from each team were all denied.  Danny Sedin beat Hiller for the first shootout goal, but Trent Hunter was equal to the task to tie the game up again. 5 more shooters would be stonewalled before Sergei fedorov was called upon to rekindle some of his old magic to score the winner in an edge of your seat entertaining game.  Ducks send the home town crowd away smiling with a 4-3 victory.

Chicago -

Miikka Kiprusoff was at it again, playing fantastic as the Blackhawks blanked the Bruins 3-0 at the United Centre.

Despite his lacklustre .903 save percentage, the Kipper has been the most important reason for the 'Hawks strong campaign in 2009-2010.

The Canadiens brought their tough defense, a rock solid Jaroslav Halak and their high-powered scorer Jarome Iginla into Madison Square Garden and defeated the Rangers 3-1.  Iginla scored on a wrap-around 31 seconds in and sealed the game with a tip-in goal at 7:25 of the third period.  Canadiens were seemingly a step ahead the whole game, with 11 takeaways, 8 hits and a +10 edge in shots.

Canadiens 3, Rangers 1
