Subject: Fedorov Pots Shoot Out Winner as Ducks Prevail Over Habs

Anaheim survived a first period onslaught and fought their way back to upstage the Montreal Canadiens in front of a sold out Honda Center. Marty St Louis scored two power play markers to give the Habs a 2-0 lead after one. special teams would cut the lead to one as Souray ripped a point shot on the Ducks power play to cut the lead to 2-1 after two periods of play.  Jason Arnott picked up the puck and balasted another outside shot goal to tie the game ar 2 early in the third.  33 seconds later, Alex Tanguay restored the Montreal lead with a breakaway goal.  It was another Alex that tied it up again, as Ovechkin broke free of a check and knotted the game at 3 apiece 6:40 into the third. It was all Anaheim in the third, outshooting Montreal 16-7, but Carey Price was stellar.  The game went to overtime, and even with the man advantage, Anaheim could get the winner past Price. This game would go to a shootout, and a lenghtly one at that.  The first four shooters from each team were all denied.  Danny Sedin beat Hiller for the first shootout goal, but Trent Hunter was equal to the task to tie the game up again. 5 more shooters would be stonewalled before Sergei fedorov was called upon to rekindle some of his old magic to score the winner in an edge of your seat entertaining game.  Ducks send the home town crowd away smiling with a 4-3 victory.

Chicago -

Miikka Kiprusoff was at it again, playing fantastic as the Blackhawks blanked the Bruins 3-0 at the United Centre.

Despite his lacklustre .903 save percentage, the Kipper has been the most important reason for the 'Hawks strong campaign in 2009-2010.

A tense and exciting battle between division leaders.  Jason Arnott put the Ducks ahead early, then the Rangers got their defensive game going.  They registered 8 takeaways and 3 hits and tied the game on Raffi Torres' 5th of the year.

In the second the shots evened out and each team took a turn with the lead but quickly surrendered it back.  Ryan Kesler, who had the task of matching up with Ovechkin, scored at the 1:32 mark on an outside shot to give NY a 2-1 lead, but Sheldon Souray tied it a little over 4 minutes later.  Frans Nielsen gave the Ducks a 3-2 edge just 31 seconds later.  Anaheim had a few chances to pad their lead but the Rangers hung in and tied it on a Ryan Callahan marker with just over 4 minutes to play in the 2nd.

The Rangers withstood a quick, initial flurry by the Ducks and then proceeded to harass Kari Lehtonen with 6 GR chances and 2 split chances.  The second split chance, the final of the 8 scoring chances, proved to be the Rangers big moment as Clarke MacArthur snuck one in on a 1-15 (14) with 1:58 to play.  The Ducks managed a few shots on net after but no real threats and the Rangers held on to split the home and home.
