I have found that the only effective day time lights must flash. The
multi LED Cateye units seem to work and are reasonably priced and have
good battery life.

I finally installed a dome strobe flasher on top of my tail trunk box so
that it peeks over my helmet for forward visibility. And the 2
rechargeable D cells do last for several trips before needing recharging.

I do NO night riding as I have SRNV AMD (macular degeneration) and even
dark shadows on bright days are a problem for me.
