Reelight - day-time-running lights - good/bad ... better ideas?   Message List

Re: Reelight - day-time-running lights - good/bad ... better ideas?

This is a dynamo by another name with an LED light designed to run off
a dynamo (i.e,. built in capacitor). Interesting dynamo design. Seems
like a good LED light product.

Wonder if there is extra spoke wear from these? How many magnets will
fit on the 20" tires?

I searched all over the reelight web site to see the output in lumens.
There's little technical detail available. Before spending this much
money, I strong recommend you request the lumen output before buying.
Compare that to an small LED flashlight with the same output.

My experience is that many LED bike lights are too weak for daytime
use. Do you want to use the reelight as a daytime safety light?

I have found that the only effective day time lights must flash. The multi LED Cateye units seem to work and are reasonably priced and have good battery life....

I agree on the flashing during daylight - front and rear. I also found that 12V systems with a external battery are the brightest and worth the extra weight...

I use Whelen Raider LIN6 police vehicle lights. Highly effective in daytime, which is why police vehicles use them. No LED bike light comes even close. There...
