[Greenspeedtrikeowners] Re: Tires for Greenspeed

I have a Greenspeed GTR and last year I installed three Schwalbe Marathon Plus.
The main reasons for deciding on these was they are as close as you are going to
get to a flat free tire. Also previous to this I was riding on Tiogo slicks and
they didn't seem to give the traction I was looking for especially in the rain
and on any curves with a steep downhill. These have worked out well. They have
slowed me down somewhat with having the tread but worth it form a safety point
of view.

Can't speak for the 16" Kenda's but our Sun EZ3-USX came with a 20"
Kenda. When one got a flat, I was happy to replace it with a Marathon
because the Kenda was limited to 65PSI.

I recently bought 2 of the new kevlar versions of the Scorchers, and
that's the only version I expect to buy from now on. Kevlar costs a
bit more, but is usually more resistant to flats and able to handle
higher pressure.

In addition, I've now bought a thorn-resistant tube for the next time
I need a tube, as I really dislike tire failures on the road.

(Another alternative possibly worth considering might be the new
Marathon Plus tires, because they are supposedly even more resistant
to flats.)

Walt, Thank you for the insight. I hadn't realized that Greenspeed offered a kevlar version of the Scorcher. I'll have to look into that. Again, the wear...

At this point it seems a reasonable sacrifice (speed for staility). I'm no speed demon to start with, so they are something to consider. As I've said, I'm a...

I've also had the "thorn proof" tire tubes on my GTO, and have found them to weigh a ton and carrying a spare is a major concession as far as room. They just...
