adventures. Please let us know if you have pictures to show or
stories to tell.

The cost to attend is $25 per person. If you'd like to attend, please
send me an email at elizabethb@... to reserve your spot(s) and
then send a cheque to the club mailing address at:

I have one pair of men's Sidi cycling shoes, in excellent condition,
which I would be happy to give to any GCBT member who wears size
46. A description of the shoes can be found at the link below which
is taken from the MEC online catalog.

http://www.mec.ca/Products/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%
3Eprd_id=845524441895205&FOLDER%3C%
3Efolder_id=2534374302692667&bmUID=1162236440109

The reason that I'm getting rid of these shoes is that they fit a
little tight on my big feet, which seem to be growing.

The shoes have been worn for approximately 1000 km of cycling.

If you are interested or would like more information, send me a note
or give me a call.

Hey Catherine

Were you on a different ride? Petey and even Preston thought the
weather was just great----warm with tail winds, a perfect riding
day?????? Not really, it wasn't the weather that made it a perfect
riding day it was all of you brave people that showed up for my ride
despite the temperature and winds. Thanks a lot to all of you. And
somehow I don't think I lead you around the route, it was more like
me trying to keep up!

So in honour of the weather and riding companions I've renamed the
ride to The Brrrr Tour to Acton.

Check out the pictures I posted.

Cheers
Don

A great ride, quiet country roads, nice hills, and I’m sure the colours were beautiful last weekend! … That is one of my favourites as is probably obvious since it was promising to be a rather cold day of riding but I rode anyway.  As I pulled into the parking lot I remember thinking that I wasn’t the only stu… I mean die-hard as there were already 10 or so riders, jumping up and down to keep warm and adding multiple layers of clothing, booties, toques (except Shirley, who was barefoot … hmm!).  Now If only Don could have done something about the headwind for the last 40 k!

And thanks Don for leading us around the route.

Greetings cyclists!

You may have seen the announcements in Pedal Mag, the BTAC website,
or the Conestoga College fall calendar ... or maybe not!

Winterborne Bicycle Institute, a "division" of Winterborne Custom
Bicycles and an educational partner with Conestoga College, has been
created to provide in-depth training for shop mechanics and/or
advanced home mechanics.

At a time when the bike industry is booming and bike materials and
technology are becoming more and more advanced, the industry is
challenged with a shortage of good mechanics all across North
America.

Our goal is to help more people get on bikes more often, and have
those bikes be safer and more reliable, through professional level
mechanic training. We're the only such trade school in Canada, and
the only one in North America east of Colorado.

Our first course starts Monday and runs 11 days over the next two
weeks (Sundays are always reserved for riding!). Our initial class
is full at 10 students from across Ontario, and the College has a
waiting list.

We're grateful for the tremendous support we've received from Park
Tool, Trek Bikes, Babac Cycle Products, Shimano, BTAC, Pedal Mag,
Ziggy's Cycle, True North, Barnett Bicycle Institute and Arnie Baker
Cycling.

Our starter website is just a few pages at www.winterbornebikes.com,
and pics of the shop/class on the eve of our first course can be
found at http://www.fototime.com/inv/46D69C2B9834A5F

If you or someone you know is interested in finding out more, please
contact us through the info on the website, or e-mail us at
wbi (at) rogers.com

If you've been wondering why you haven't seen me on many GCBT rides
this season, this start-up is why!

Hello all,

Just called them, only to find that there are no more tickets available.

The person I talked said they were thinking of adding an extra show, though.

Fred, if you hear anything about an extra show, could please post the info

Hi Everyone,
My wife and I saw this film at the Museum of Science and

company which produces brain medication and uses the Tour de France as
a backdrop to put forth the idea that a properly supported brain can
accomplish anything including 3 weeks of pain otherwise known as the

New Parking arrangements
The Blandford Square Mall and Walmart have been torn down.
For those who attended the Labour Day ride the parking is the same.

When you turn north on County Rd 4 from Hwy 2 look to your left.
There is a short road call Bonds Corners Lane in front of the Auction
House. Park on the road as close to the turnaround as possible. Look
for my bike and I which will be there about 8:00am. There is room for
about 20-25 cars, without interfering with auction.
I hope we have better weather than today.

Remember it is a 9:00 AM start.

Call me with questions,
David

Last Sunday's Swamp Fever ride was great. It helped that the weather
was fabulous. Thanks go out to the organizers of the ride - it's one
that I'll definitely repeat.

Fingers crossed for good weather this weekend, given that there's two
GCBT rides on. My local club - the Flying Dogs - is hosting its 6th
annual Big Ride to benefit Anselma House - 160km and 200km - on
Sunday. I'd hate to be out that long in the rain.

See you at the Other Oxford County Tour.

Hi, everyone!

Just a quick note on the ride I have for this Saturday....

It is not a "death ride"!! I understand that some people think the
following..."ex-Polkadots equals lots of hills!" This isn't
Woodstock or London, so there is some climbing. However, the climbs
are manageable and afford great views of Lake Ontario and the
surrounding area. The route options will be about 69 and 87 kms.

I've planned the timing to coincide with the Grape and Wine Festival
in St. Catharines. (www.grapeandwine.com) There are wineries on
route as well if that interests you. Please let me know if you have
any questions.

Now, let's hope for drier weather than the forecast...

again at the Victoria Ave. Traffic signal. Turn right at the North
Service Road. Turn left into the plaza with the Day's Inn, Tim
Horton's and Subway...this is the start point.

Hi friends,
See you on Sunday for a nice sunny ride. But first the bad news,
Blondie in Inverhaugh has not been keeping her supply of pie up to
par, and some late arrivals may not get any - moral of the story -
ride fast if you want pie.
But I have been over the route an there is some nice new pavement here
and there.
One more note, I was not captured by a tribe of Amazon women as John
Bennett has been saying. I was actually captured by just one single
woman and we have been venturing far afield with tours, and exploring
to make new club tours for next season, such as a 210 km loop of
Manitoulin Island a couple weeks ago. Hope to offer that next year.
It's very scenic and we saw 7 deer one day.
See you in Fergus.
Tom Simon
