Hello all,

Just called them, only to find that there are no more tickets available.

The person I talked said they were thinking of adding an extra show, though.

Fred, if you hear anything about an extra show, could please post the info
to the Great Canadian Yahoo Group?

Hi Everyone,
My wife and I saw this film at the Museum of Science and
Industry in Chicago last June. It's sponsored by a pharmaceutical
company which produces brain medication and uses the Tour de France as
a backdrop to put forth the idea that a properly supported brain can
accomplish anything including 3 weeks of pain otherwise known as the
Tour de France. I would say 60% of the film shows actual footage of
the tour in spectacular Imax and the rest shows an animation of the
brain and it's electrical pathways and how it controls the body. In
spite of this somewhat misleading intro, we're going to see it again
next Tuesday at the 20:30 showing. Not a TBN member, no problem, just
tell them if they ask and they won't that gcbt is an affiliated
cycling club with tbn. They asked me if I got an invitation and I told
them about the tbn website announcement and if they wanted my
membership number? The person at the OSC ticket office said that was

New Parking arrangements
The Blandford Square Mall and Walmart have been torn down.
For those who attended the Labour Day ride the parking is the same.

When you turn north on County Rd 4 from Hwy 2 look to your left.
There is a short road call Bonds Corners Lane in front of the Auction
House. Park on the road as close to the turnaround as possible. Look
for my bike and I which will be there about 8:00am. There is room for
about 20-25 cars, without interfering with auction.
I hope we have better weather than today.

Remember it is a 9:00 AM start.

Call me with questions,
David

Last Sunday's Swamp Fever ride was great. It helped that the weather
was fabulous. Thanks go out to the organizers of the ride - it's one
that I'll definitely repeat.

Fingers crossed for good weather this weekend, given that there's two
GCBT rides on. My local club - the Flying Dogs - is hosting its 6th
annual Big Ride to benefit Anselma House - 160km and 200km - on
Sunday. I'd hate to be out that long in the rain.

See you at the Other Oxford County Tour.

Hi, everyone!

Just a quick note on the ride I have for this Saturday....

It is not a "death ride"!! I understand that some people think the
following..."ex-Polkadots equals lots of hills!" This isn't
Woodstock or London, so there is some climbing. However, the climbs
are manageable and afford great views of Lake Ontario and the
surrounding area. The route options will be about 69 and 87 kms.

I've planned the timing to coincide with the Grape and Wine Festival
in St. Catharines. (www.grapeandwine.com) There are wineries on
route as well if that interests you. Please let me know if you have
any questions.

Now, let's hope for drier weather than the forecast...

Hi friends,
See you on Sunday for a nice sunny ride. But first the bad news,
Blondie in Inverhaugh has not been keeping her supply of pie up to
par, and some late arrivals may not get any - moral of the story -
ride fast if you want pie.
But I have been over the route an there is some nice new pavement here
and there.
One more note, I was not captured by a tribe of Amazon women as John
Bennett has been saying. I was actually captured by just one single
woman and we have been venturing far afield with tours, and exploring
to make new club tours for next season, such as a 210 km loop of
Manitoulin Island a couple weeks ago. Hope to offer that next year.
It's very scenic and we saw 7 deer one day.
See you in Fergus.

In September 1997 Bernie was a fit 67 year old and I was a fat 45 year
old and this was our first ever 100 mile ride. We are doing the same
ride in his memory. The route is Waterloo to Stratford via Baden, New
Hamburg, Tavistock, Punkey Doodles corners, from Stratford to Drayton
via the Conestogo dam, from Drayton to West Montrose and back to
Waterloo. There is 1.5 km of hard packed gravel around Punkey Doodles
corners and a .1 km construction detour in New Hamburg around the
Huron St. bridge.

Hi Everyone,

I don't know why no reminders were sent out so I copied and

Best wishes for a fun and safe trip to John, Elizabeth, Wayne,
Marilyn, Jim and Rowena! You've been training hard and I hope it works
out as you challenge the peaks in the Alps and Pyrenees.

Hopefully, you can post some updates on how the trip is progressing. I
think one of you will be the honourary polka dot jersey winner at the
banquet this year. Somehow, those climbs in France seem more
challenging than the escarpment!

Carl,

This is to let you know that Goldwin, Pauline and I managed to complete the whole 200 kms yesterday. Despite the fact that we traveled the last 30 kms at around 15 km/h, we still averaged 25 km/h for the complete trip.

I can’t speak for Pauline and Goldwin, but I was whacked at the end. I’m not sure if this was from the 8 hours of cycling or the 3 hours of yacking at Tim Horton’s and other miscellaneous locations. I need to find less talkative people to ride with!

Great route. Thanks for organizing it.

John Telfer

I have a great route planned for Sunday, taking in all my favourite
quiet, rolling, country roads north and west of Waterloo! There is
no gravel on the route although there is a .5 km stretch of hard-
packed dirt road which will be no problem at all for road bikes.

The start location is Beechwood Zehrs plaza in Waterloo. The
address is 450 Erb St. West if you want to mapquest it but i think
my directions are pretty accurate.

I have three distances - approximately 80, 100 and 120 km. All
three routes go through Milverton where there is a convenience store
and two restaurants open. There is also a great little ice-cream
shop which makes wonderful milkshakes. The ice cream shop opens at
1:00 so don't hurry to get there!

There are two other stores en route for the long ride - one before
and one after the lunch stop; there is one store for the short and
medium route and it's after the lunch stop. If it's a hot day, be
sure to bring extra water to stay hydrated.

I hope to see you out on Sunday.

Fingers crossed for good weather!

Catherine
