Subject: [Great Canadian Bicycle Tours] Alternate directions to Paris ride
Hi everyone, for next week's ride, here are some notes and directions:
1. No washrooms or water at the parking lot (they're coming later this year).
2. Our ride is the same day as the Paris to Ancaster race so don't
necessarily follow cars with bicycles to get to Bean Park!
3. Directions coming from St. George, Cambridge, Ancaster, Dundas, Brantford
(i.e. from highways 24, 5, 99 etc.): Coming in on Highway 99, continue west
past the Tim Horton's at the west edge of Paris and over the bridge; turn left
at the traffic lights (Paris Variety on the corner) onto Washington St.,
continue on Washington to Old Mill St. and turn left, go one block to Race st.
turn left and continue on Race (keep right) one and one half blocks, Bean Park
on your right on the Grand River.
4. Directions coming from Kitchener, Waterloo, Ayr, parts of Cambridge: Come
into Paris on Highway 24A or your favourite "back way" and through the downtown,
keep left and keep left at two Y intersections after the downtown and continue
on Grand River St. South and then turns into Ball St., left on Ann Street to
Bean Park.
5. I will post signs at confusing points.
P.S. No one in Paris knows where Bean Park is by name so if you're asking for
directions, ask for directions to Race Street.
P.P.S. Once you arrive you might want to ride around the Race / Hillside
block a few times to warm up so you're not starting up Mile Hill without a warm
up.
Looking forward to seeing you! Theresa McClenaghan
