Due partly to the inclement weather, the Annual General Meeting (AGM)
which was scheduled for January 28, failed to take place, due to being
two ride leaders short of a quorum. Many thanks to those ride leaders
and touring members who made it to the meeting and to those who tried
to make it to the meeting, but turned back due to the bad driving
conditions.
In place of the quorum-less AGM, the Board held a brief meeting,
during which it accepted the resignation of John Hesse from the
position of Treasuer and appointed Wayne Holden in his place, to hold
office until the AGM.
On behalf of the Board, I would like to publicly thank John Hesse for
his many years of diligent and exemplary service to the GCBT.
Because the club by-laws require 21 days notice prior to an AGM, the
"2008" AGM of the GCBT will now be held at 147 Morningdale Crescent on
Monday,March 9, 2009, starting at 7 p.m. sharp. It is hoped that
the meeting will conclude by 9:30 p.m. at the latest. If you were a
ride leader during 2008, please make a special effort to attend the
meeting so that we do not have to reschedule it once again.
Coffee and tea will be served.
To see a map of the location, enter "43.493583, -80.557691" into
maps.google.com.
As you may or may not know, only ride leaders are permitted to vote at
the Annual General Meeting. However, the first item of business at the
meeting will be a vote on an amendment to the club's by-laws to extend
to right to vote to all dues-paying members of the club, with
immediate effect. If you are a member of the club but are not a ride
leader, then please consider attending this meeting.
At this AGM, the Board positions of Treasurer, Director of Marketing,
and Directing of Touring are up for election.
The complete agenda for the meeting has been uploaded to this web site
to Files|Administration|AGM_2008_Agenda.pdf. The proposed by-law
amendment has been uploaded to
Files|Administration|AGM_2008_Bylaw_Changes.pdf.
