Greg Bird wants to be a Gold Coast Titan
Controversial rugby league star Greg Bird would love nothing more than to repay the Titans with an NRL premiership if they throw him a lifeline. "I would love to come to the Gold Coast, one of the reasons I want to return to the NRL is to win a premiership and the way the Titans played this year, with the quality players they have on their roster, they aren't far away. If I was given the chance to come to the Gold Coast what better way to say thanks than by being part of a premiership campaign,"said Bird through his Gold Coast-based manager Chris Orr

Rewind 1986: an unforgettable slugfest bereft of tries
Who says rugby league grand finals need tries to keep the public coming back for more bread and circuses? Certainly not Terry Leabeater, the Parramatta prop still big enough and ugly enough to mount a powerful argument; few would venture to disagree.

Home boys Smith and Hayne lead Parramatta revival
They would appear an odd couple but the similarities are growing. Jarryd Hayne is the superstar with the world at his twinkle-toed feet. Ben Smith is the understated, underrated bloke whose own feet are remarkable only because the legs above them are, much to the amusement of his teammates, so tiny. He just happens to be Hayne's bodyguard and babysitter.

Fitzy's a part of our success, say Eels
Members of the rebel faction that overthrew former Parramatta powerbroker Denis Fitzgerald earlier this season say he deserves credit for the team's remarkable surge to be within 80 minutes of the grand final and admit the bitter battle for control of the club had a negative effect on the players.

Wakefield Trinity Wildcats utility back Kevin Henderson has signed a new two-year contract with the club. The 28-year-old centre or second row has developed into a first-choice player at Belle Vue this season and made 20 appearances during the recently completed Super League season.
