The momentum changed between the teams and due to the closeness of the scores, the result was in the balance until the 80th minute. Titans 34 Knights 20</> - A spirited fightback underlined the start of the Jetstar Gold Coast Titans' 2009 campaign in a 34-20 win over Newcastle at Skilled Park yesterday. Serbian Student competition begins - The opening matches have been played in this season's Serbian Student Rugby League competition, the precursor to the country's domestic campaign. Five sides, all based around Budapest University - one of the largest in Eastern Europe, with a student population of 90,000 - have taken to the field in 2009, an increase of two on the inaugural season last year. Brisbane Second Division Reports - The second round of Brisbane Second Division Rugby League fixtures were played on Saturday 14 March. Valleys, Easts and Carina share the lead in the Premier Grade, on 4 points, after Valleys beat Aspley 22-0, Easts beat Banyo 30-12 and Carina had the bye. Level, on 2 points, are Arana Hills, who were beaten 24-22 by Deception Bay, Banyo, Redlands, who beat Wynnum 26-16 and Deception Bay. Read more..

Qatar rugby league festival hailed a success - A total of seven schools, including three from Saudi Arabia, contested the first Middle Eastern youth rugby league festival, as the Qatar Invitational 9's tournament was held over two days in Al Khor. The International School in the host city emerged victorious, beating off competition from local rivals Doha College, Gulf English School and Qatar International School along with visiting institutions, Jeddah Prep & Grammar, British International School Jeddah and their American counterparts from the Saudi city.
