Brisbane Second Division Rugby League Wrap-up - The Brisbane Second Division Rugby League competition began on Saturday 7 March, with fixtures in all eight grades. In the Premier Grade, Valleys Juniors beat Redlands 30-6, Arana Hills beat Aspley 26-20, Carina beat Wynnum Manly Juniors 14-10, Banyo beat Deception Bay Bombers 30-12 and Easts Juniors had the bye.

European Cup details revealed - The Rugby League European Federation has announced details of their 2009 international programme following a meeting of its Full and Associate members in Leeds. The re-named European Cup showcases six nations who either participated in the 2008 World Cup or took part in the qualifiers for it, some of the profits of which will help stage the tournament.
