Meninga's bid to coach Kangaroos gets new life - The window of opportunity for Mal Meninga to be appointed Australian coach - previously slammed shut - is back open, with NSW-based ARL board member John Chalk saying he is prepared to consider the argument put forward by the QRL on Meninga's behalf.

Emotional return for Lee Crooks to Hull FC - Hull legend Lee Crooks has returned to the club he helped win every major honour during a glittering career through their glory years in the 1980s. Crooks, 45, who recently resigned as assistant coach with cross-city rivals Hull KR, returns to the Black and Whites after a 22-year absence as the club's head of youth.

Jetstar Gold Coast Titans Top End Trek - Day two of the Jetstar Gold Coast Titans Top end trek and the player's first port of call was the Royal Darwin hospital, with Brad Meyers and David Mead joining their Cronulla counterparts and spending a few hours completing jigsaws, reading and posing for photographs with some of the hospitals sick youngsters, their parents and carers.

Full Steam Ahead for Junior Sau - Priority signing and Knights centre, Junior Sau will wear the blue and red until at least the end of the 2011 season after agreeing to terms with Newcastle this morning. Sau's signature is a major boost to the club heading into the 2009 season and comes off the back of a stellar debut year when he staked a serious claim for the Rookie of the Year.

Manly CEO Grant Mayer questions Super League standard - Super League came under fire on two fronts on Wednesday in the build-up to the Carnegie World Club Challenge between Leeds Rhinos and Australian champions Manly Sea Eagles. Manly chief executive Grant Mayer, the man who spearheaded Catalans Dragons' entry into Super League in 2006, labelled the English competition "second tier", a view echoed by one of Australia's leading coaches.

Melbourne expansion plans cloudy: NRL - Establishing a second Melbourne team would fall a distant fifth behind places such as Perth and Adelaide if the NRL goes ahead with plans to expand the 16-team competition. Despite the success of the Storm both on and off the field, NRL boss David Gallop declared other areas a bigger priority for any possible new teams.

NRL Official Tipping Contest - 2009 Telstra Premiership Rugby League fans can now start registering for the NRL's official tipping contest. Registrations opened Monday with over $20,000 of prizes on offer, including a $10,000 NAB iSaver Account for the winner. Second place receives a Sony PlayStation 3 (valued at $699.95) and those finishing third through to tenth will each receive a Sony PlayStation Portable (valued at $279.95).
