Millennium Magic - Sunday Review By Wayne Gardiner - Still smarting from their 34-18 defeat at the Millennium Stadium 12 months earlier and a 46-10 Good Friday mauling at Knowsley Road, the Wigan Warriors suffered yet more misery at the hands of their arch rivals, who now lie third in engage Super League on 16 points.
With Long in magnificent form, Saints were simply irresistible as they cut loose against some pathetic defence with six high-class tries before half-time, when they led 35-0, and they added four more after the break.
When Saints reached the half-century mark, Wigan fans among the 32,516 crowd - which took the total for the two days to a bumper 63,144 - began to head for the exits, even though there was still half-an-hour of the match left.
Long, so often Wigan's nemesis, was at the heart of the destruction, scoring three tries and kicking seven goals, including a cheeky drop goal, for a personal haul of 27 points.
Late tries from Julien Touxagas and Justin Murphy saw Catalans snatch an 18-16 victory over Harlequins and cement second spot.
The clash appeared to be drifting towards a tame conclusion after Quins had opened up a 16-6 lead in the second half.
Yet the French suddenly burst into life after Touxagas picked up a loose ball and sprinted 90 metres to score with 10 minutes remaining.
Murphy then took a Thomas Bosc kick with two minutes left on the clock to cut Leeds' lead at the top to five points and extend the club's unbeaten run to nine games.
Jake Webster's 76th minute try ensured that Hull KR continue to hold the Indian sign over their bitter rivals Hull FC after they claimed a 22-17 win.
The New Zealand centre was on hand to cross for an eighth try of the season after taking in Ben Galea's pass and put his team back in front after Adam Dykes's 74th minute drop goal appeared to have sealed the win for Peter Sharp's Hull side.
It was little more than Justin Morgan's men deserved after a second half that saw them dominate the possession, albeit without ever really troubling their opponents.
Nonetheless, Rovers have now won the last three meetings between the two and four of the last six, moving them firmly back into the play-off picture. Read more Sporting Life

They're not electric, but the Eels show some spark - Parramatta are still well short of finding the form that saw them give eventual premiers Melbourne a huge shake in last year's finals series, but at least they are heading in the right direction again. Souths deserve a beer - AFTER watching the South Sydney Rabbitohs lose to the Brisbane Broncos last week, I wrote the following: "Their record reads no wins from seven games; but they are much better than those results indicate. Something to Crowe about - RUSSELL CROWE stood on the balcony of the owners' box at full-time with his arms raised in triumph, John Sutton hurled the ball into the crowd and punched the air after scoring the match-winning try, and the sight and sound of the Souths players belting out their victory song in a packed dressing room was broadcast on the big screen at ANZ Stadium. No security problem but renegade fan walks free - THE NRL is satisfied Penrith has adequate security in place at CUA Stadium despite being forced to investigate, for the second time this season, a fan throwing a projectile at someone on the field. Carrot and stick works wonders on errant Rabbits - DAVID KIDWELL spoke to his teammates during the week about being stripped of the South Sydney co-captaincy. But he didn't need to convince any of them he had gotten off lightly. Lockyer out of Kiwis Test - Darren Lockyer has ruled himself out of the Centenary Test and possibly the Origin opening match. Knee forces Lockyer to miss Test - Australian and Queensland captain Darren Lockyer last night ruled himself out of the Centenary Test against New Zealand before admitting he is in serious doubt for the opening match of the state-of-origin series. Crowe calls, Rabbitohs reply - South Sydney shrugged off another horror week to claim its first win of the National Rugby League season, against North Queensland at ANZ Stadium yesterday. Hard work done, now Rovelli can blog his guts out - AS YOU might expect from a good Queenslander, Grant Rovelli has picked up one of Wayne Bennett's key life lessons. Dreams come true for Luke - The danger for Issac Luke was to look past the game against North Queensland, rather than straight at it. Read more League HQ
QRL Wizard Cup Reviews - Hot Lewis Punishes Tigers Easts Tigers must be getting sick of the sight of Josh Lewis. Last year, Lewis spearheaded the Ipswich Jets to an amazing last-gasp win to bundle the Tigers out of the Wizard Cup finals. The unwanted Titan was at it again at Langlands Park on Saturday, igniting the Jets to a 36-14 round eight victory over an injury-hit Tigers outfit. Cutters Put Magpies Away - THE Mackay Cutters have registered their first win on home soil, upsetting the Souths Logan Magpies 22-12 in a stirring performance that may well spark the Wizard Cup newcomers on to greater heights. Tweed Back From The Brink - BOTTOM-placed Tweed Heads belted top-placed Northern Pride in a stunning form reversal at Cudgen's Ned Byrne Field on Saturday. The Pride has breezed through the opening seven rounds of the Wizard Cup but the northern newcomers came back to earth with a thud in the lopsided round eight encounter. Irwin Shows Class For Gulls - Centre Steve Irwin has responded to a few quiet words from coach Shane McNally, whose side is celebrating a much needed 34-24 victory against the Central Comets. Fins Sizzle In Try Fest - IT'S not often you score four tries in a team that wins by 34 points and still get overshadowed by another individual from the losing team. QRL Online
Russell Crowe rejoices brave South Sydney win over Cowboys SOUTH SYDNEY 28, COWBOYS 24 - South Sydney captain Roy Asotasi - jubilant at his club's first win in 251 excruciating days - spoke with emotion last night by declaring: "It's been a long, long seven weeks."

RLCM eBook Coaching Extract -
By Don Oxenham ARL Level 4 Coach from his article in RLCM Book 5 - A try may be scored by running 50 metres or more but is actually made by one metre or less. To understand its value in a true football sense the metre can be converted into time.
A try is made by penetrating the defence, after that it has to be scored. Obviously all `tries' made are not `scored' due to a number of reasons such as lack of support, speed of cover defence, or errors by the attacking team.
The making of a try due to the action of Rugby League can be the result of a defender missing the tackle by a metre or even less.
In expressing this relationship between time and distance let's assume a player could run 96 metres in twelve seconds, that is 8 metres in one second or one metre in 1/8th of a second......all 36 RLCM eBooks are on one CD-ROM - RLCM Ultimate - Receive when you join the RLCM Monthly Club.
