Adrian Morley raring to go
Injured Warrington prop forward Adrian Morley told Boots n' All that he feels like he is still to make his debut for the Wolves after playing just 40 minutes of the Super League XII season.
The Great Britain international has been out of action since the opening round when he fractured his eye socket in a clash with Wigan youngster Eamon O'Carroll.
In his absence the Wolves have compiled creditable wins against the Warriors, Hull and Harlequins with their only reverse coming at home to the Bulls in round two.
In an effort to return to fitness ahead of the anticipated six to eight weeks, Morley has been having treatment in an individual hyperbaric chamber which is designed to improve bone regeneration.
And the former Leeds and Sydney Roosters enforcer admitted that after a lifetime spent inflicting damage on his opponents, getting his comeuppance against a 19-year-old was more than a little ironic.
"I've had some stick off a few of the lads," Morley said.
"I went in to give him a bit of a shot and the top of his head just hit my face and there was only one winner.
"It's just them saying you've been done by a 19-year-old but it's all part and parcel of the game and it had to happen some time.
Unsurprisingly after missing the last four games the 29-year-old is itching to get back into the fray.
"To me the first game was bitterly disappointing and I still feel as though I've not really made by debut yet because it was only 40 minutes," he said
"I'm still excited to pull the jersey on and start playing some game time for the Wolves.
The visit of St Helens to the Halliwell Jones Stadium on Friday may come a week too soon for Morley but coach Cullen has pencilled him for a return against Hull KR on March 18. Sky Sports

Sonny Bill too expensive for NZ Warriors
By John Coffey
There are plenty of good reasons why the Warriors would be eager to bring Kiwis rugby league star Sonny Bill Williams back to Auckland, but financial considerations will prevent that from happening.
Williams, the most marketable player in the game despite an injury-disrupted career which has limited his appearances for the Canterbury Bulldogs and New Zealand, is the subject of a two-day auction.
The brilliant 21-year-old loose forward comes off contract with the Bulldogs later this year and managers Gavin and Chris Orr intend to resolve his future by tomorrow night.
However, Warriors chief executive Wayne Scurrah said yesterday it was "highly unlikely" Williams would be making a dramatic return to his old home town.
"It's a great thing to think about but the reality is there are far more commercial opportunities that his agent can pick up in Sydney," said Scurrah.
Where Williams will play his football in 2008 and beyond has been the subject of much speculation, with interest building as negotiations with the Bulldogs have dragged on.
Gavin Orr has denied the latest Bulldogs offer was worth $A1.5 million over three years, telling Sydney journalists it was closer to $A1.25m.
Rugby League Week magazine reported last month that an unnamed "leading NRL club" was preparing to offer Williams an unprecedented 10-year contract worth in excess of $A6m, "plus countless bonuses in off-field endorsements."
So far, that has not materialised.
"We'll find out who's serious and who's not," Gavin Orr told the Sydney Daily Telegraph when announcing the 48-hour deadline.
"If clubs are serious about signing Sonny, they'll be there and talking to us by the end of the week."
But when the Telegraph took a poll of NRL club officials, 10 said they would not be bidding for Williams' services and two others were non-committal.
Scurrah was among the three who could not be contacted, but yesterday he doused speculation the Warriors might be in the market despite Williams' obvious drawing power.
Williams would ensure larger attendances, increase sales of merchandise, and, most importantly, make the team more competitive - sufficient even to justify a $500,000 a year contract.
"As a Kiwi, we would love to have him at the club," said Scurrah.
But no club is more sensitive about salary cap limits than the Warriors, who last season were penalised four competition points and heavily fined for breaches committed by the previous administration.
"Money (that would be) coming in is not the issue. It's the money going into the cap that is the issue," said Scurrah.
The Warriors also had existing obligations tomembers of its 25-man full-time squad and was keen to promote a culture of being a club which retained its players.
Williams' management would be fully aware more lucrative endorsements were available to players in Sydney than in Auckland - or Canberra, Melbourne, and Townsville for that matter.
As an example, Williams was sponsored by Nike, whereas the Warriors have a deal with rival sports gear manufacturer Puma.
Some optimists might view Williams as a potential replacement for captain and front-rower Steve Price, whose three-year contract expires at the end of the 2007 season.
In theory, if Price retired, it would free up a sizeable amount of money to sign another marquee player. But the inspirational Price, whose 33rd birthday is on Monday, has expressed an interest in staying another year.
The Bulldogs have also experienced salary cap upheavals in recent years but, for all their apparent reluctance to lift their offer, the smart money will be on them finding a way to re-sign Williams.
That could be at the expense of Kangaroos prop Mark O'Meley, who has reportedly declined Bulldogs contracts valued at about $A300,000 a season. NZ Stuff

Alex Murphy backs Shaun Edwards for GB coach
Rugby league legend Alex Murphy has called for Shaun Edwards to be brought back from union to become the new full-time GB coach.
Shaun Edwards Murphy claims that the player he signed for Wigan as a 16-year-old is the right man to succeed Brian Noble at the helm of the national team.
Edwards - who is the most decorated player in rugby league history - has been coaching in the 15-a-side code with Guinness Premiership side London Wasps since 2001.
But Murphy believes that the Great Britain vacancy presents a golden chance to bring Edwards back to his league roots.
And he insists that Edwards would be a far better bet that any overseas coach.
"Edwards is the man and he has my backing," Murphy said: "We need a British coach, we need a respected figure and he is the man.
"I'm not anti-Australian but I feel that our game is not cast in a good light if we cannot provide a homegrown coach. Shaun could do the job.
"I think he'd be ideal, but he would need the right people around him. I say give him a chance.
"Shaun has always been prepared to put in what others won't, he works hard and he would instil the pride factor.
"This is just the right time for him to take charge and I'm sure we would see an immediate response from the players."
Salford Reds coach Karl Harrison is also a contender, but Murphy believes Harrison is not ready to step up just yet.
He said: "Karl is a very good club coach - and I'm sure one day he may well coach GB - but I would go for Edwards."
And the former Wigan scrum-half, who spent 15 years at Central Park, also has the backing of Maurice Bamford, a former GB boss.
Bamford said: "Shaun Edwards would be on my shortlist of three - I'd also consider John Kear and Ellery Hanley. But my preference would be Shaun.
"We must not even contemplate the appointment of an overseas coach. We have to take the game forward and see that young British players come through."
The RFL are drawing up a shortlist of contenders, with the overseas challenge for the job spearheaded by Aussie Shaun McRae, but Murphy believes the game's long-term interests will suffer if an overseas coach take charge.
Murphy added: "This is a job for a British coach. We need the right man in place and I am sure it's the kind of job Shaun Edwards would relish." Manchester Evening News

Dave Woods's Super League column
By Dave Woods
Brian Noble's side made a disastrous start to the Super League, with an early round home defeat against one of the so-called weaker teams in the competition.
In fact, his side will struggle for a while, losing five times in the first nine matches and the pressure will mount.
But, come October he'll be acclaimed a hero, leading his club to a Grand Final victory. That's not a prediction, it's history.
Two years ago, Noble's beleaguered Bradford Bulls lost the first two games of the season at home to Wakefield and away at Widnes. The knives were out with ridiculous haste.
There was more stuttering before a recovery of 12 consecutive wins, culminating in an Old Trafford victory against old rivals Leeds.
It puts into context the premature panic by some concerning Wigan's current form. But then, it is Wigan.
There aren't many clubs who twitch as nervously as the Cherry and Whites.
Andy Goodway, Frank Endacott, Stuart Raper, Mike Gregory, Denis Betts and Ian Millward have all come and gone since the JJB opened its doors.
But it is a growing trend. How warm is the hot-seat at Hull at the moment?
The Airlie Birds have missed all the worms on offer in Super League XII so far, with just one measly point from their opening four games.
Last year John Kear was sacked after a start to the season that saw his side win only three of the opening seven league games.
If Peter Sharp loses one of his next three, his record will be worse. So what do the Hull board do? Sack and start again?
If they do, it will be absurd. What every club needs is stability and the self-confidence of sticking together in the tough patches.
This is, all clichés aside, the most competitive Super League yet.
The Huddersfield example is proof of that. On the face of it, they are adrift at the bottom of the table with no wins from four, so you'd think that Jon Sharp would be under pressure too.
But a closer look at their results shows they have lost only narrowly to three of the pre-season favourites: St Helens, Bradford and Leeds.
Four defeats and a points difference of only -23 tells its own story.
If that's the bottom club, it reflects well on the competition as a whole at the moment.
Throughout the year, several clubs will go through troughs as injuries hit.
Wigan and Hull may be getting theirs out of the way early. You'd still expect both to be challenging for the top six come the end of play.
It would be nice to think that we could borrow an Australian trend over the next few months, and not one of the coaches be sacked or move on until after the season is finished.
By the way, any thoughts on Terry Newton's two-match ban for the late forearm smash to Jon Wilkin's face? My own reaction was that two matches falls into the category of "getting away with it". BBC Online

Bring back the NRL post try celebration
By Adam Sutcliffe - NRLnews.com
There is nothing more exciting than seeing your NRL team score a try. A few years ago, this wasn't always the case.
When the Footy Show introduced a post try celebration theme and encouraged NRL players to celebrate their try, suddenly 'try time' became 'party time' - and NRL fans simply couldn't get enough of watching their favourite players celebrate a try with quick thinking humourous routines.
What started out as a small comedy segment on the Footy Show became a massive headline grabber for the NRL competition. Not only were NRL fans eagerly anticipating post try celebrations, but the try celebration routines were so entertaining they began to receive massive exsposure on TV news bulletins and print media. Even rival codes were going green with envy at the new element added to the NRL game.
Overnight the NRL had something that most Australian rival codes could only dream about. They had a massive marketing component added to their game - that had previously only been enjoyed by large scale US based sports such as NFL Football and Major League Baseball.
Such a simple idea from the Footy Show, yet creative players took it to the next level and brought us routines such as: The Lawn Mower, The Cowboy Rider, Ten Pin Bowling and the Grenade.
Now the NRL had a feature that was even attracting interest from traditionally non-NRL fans such as: female audiences, Rugby Union audiences and the the younger community - everyone was facinated by this new addition.
It was every business marketers dream. As routines grew more creative and the celebration reached fever pitch - the unthinkable happened. A particular minority group was unhappy with this carnival atmosphere and began moving in to kill off the new trend. What is believed to be a core group of traditionalist supporters began thumbing their noses at the new trend, a trend that was supposedly "taking the focus away from the game".
Now lets think about that. More exposure? More fans? and more excitement for existing fans? I just don't see a downside to the trend here. What is even more frustrating about this negative view, is that the NRL bowed down to pressure from the minority group and took a dim view upon the post try celebration.
Here was the NRL turning their backs on the possibly the biggest ever marketing gift that was dropped on their laps.
Today, with impressive sponsorship deals signed by the NRL involving companies such as Telstra, Fosters, Coca-Cola, Bundaberg and TAB Sports Bet - the NRL competition is really moving forward and 2007 is going to be such a big year. Wouldn't even more sponsors be lining up if we still had the post try celebration?
Why not go back to the future and bring back one of the most exciting components of the game - for free? The post try celebration.

Wigan to recover says Danny Orr
Beleaguered Wigan have been tipped by former star Danny Orr to recover from their disastrous start to the season.
The Warriors are currently 10th in the engage Super League after their latest humiliating defeat - a 26-16 reverse against newly-promoted Hull KR - rekindled painful memories of their season-long battle against relegation last year.
Orr, who left Wigan in a major shake-up at the end of the season, returns to the JJB Stadium with his new club Harlequins on Friday night hoping to condemn his old team to a fourth defeat in five games, but he fully expects them to be in the play-offs by the end of the season.
"I am sure Wigan would have liked another win or two under their belts but they definitely won't be pressing the panic buttons or anything," he said.
"They have got a tremendous squad there, a tremendous fan base - the fans will stick with them - and they have got a great coaching staff.
"It has not been the best start but I'm quite certain Wigan will be there or thereabouts come the end of the year."
Orr made 73 appearances for Wigan after joining them from home-town club Castleford in 2003 but chose to move once they signed a new half-back pairing, even though he had a year left on his contract.
In what amounted to a virtual job swap, Harlequins' New Zealand scrum-half Thomas Leuluai moved north to form an alliance with Australia Test stand-off Trent Barrett, with Orr joining Brian McDermott's Londoners on a three-year deal.
"I knew halfway through my last year that those players had been signed," said Orr.
"I had the option to stay but I just thought I would have probably not been first choice and I want to be a regular first-team player so the best decision was to move away.
"Me and my agent talked to other clubs but after speaking to Brian Mac and Tony Rea, I was really positive about coming here.
"My wife and kids were quite happy to move down so we've made a go of it."
After living on his own for the first month, Orr has now been reunited with his wife and two children, four-year-old son Iwan and 12-month-old daughter Alana.
"I was in Kingston with a couple of the other lads and going back to Wigan whenever I could in my spare time," he said.
"But they moved down at the back end of last week so it's a lot better now."
Although effectively forced out of the JJB Stadium, the 28-year-old Orr holds no grudges against his old club and is hoping for a sympathetic reception when he returns there on Friday.
"I enjoyed every minute of it really," he said.
"I know in my first year or two I struggled with injuries but in general I worked with some wonderful people and made some great friends.
"I'll be playing against people who are still my friends and I'm looking forward to it. I don't know what kind of reception I'll get, but I'll treat it just as another game." Sporting Life

NZ Warriors find warm fuzzies after dark year
By Steve Deane
Warriors CEO Wayne Scurrah is "100 per cent" certain there are no more skeletons in the club's closet.
Last year, two weeks before the season opener, the salary cap monster burst out of hiding to derail the side's chances before they'd even started.
"We are playing by the rules," Scurrah said yesterday.
"All of the salary cap issues are totally cleared up. We are on cap or under cap."
Last year the Warriors were whacked with a four-point deduction and a $490,000 fine when an NRL investigation discovered the club had exceeded the cap for the previous two seasons, largely to lure skipper Steven Price and Kiwis captain Ruben Wiki to Mt Smart. The club never recovered, losing its first two matches to immediately slip off the play-off pace.
Voting with their feet, the crowds largely stayed away and the club tumbled to the bottom of the league's attendance table.
Things could hardly have looked more bleak.
"The night it all came out we were still at work at 2am just wondering how the hell we were going to get this club to survive," said Scurrah of the day the NRL's sentence was handed down. "We had a lot of apologising to do to people including our sponsors, fans and the NRL.
"Just trying to earn some respect back wasn't easy."
The club, which Scurrah admitted had lost touch with its fans and the league community, hit rock bottom by June, staggering to a four-win, eight-loss record at the mid-point of the season.
Last weekend's emphatic 36-6 thumping of the Bulldogs in front of more than 15,000 spectators points to a team in much better health. It wasn't a one-off result, either, with the club having won eight of their last 12 to finish with a 12-12 record, just those four penalty points outside the play-offs.
Today, confidence is high, with an almost palpable warm fuzzy feeling descending on an organisation Scurrah describes as "radically different" from the one that began last season in such disarray.
"We haven't won everyone over but ... we are probably ready to make a big mark in Auckland.
"Obviously we can do all the fancy promotions in the world but the easiest way of winning fans back is by winning games." NZ Herald

Gold Coast Titans favourites against Dragons on Sunday week
By Karl deKroo
The Gold Coast Titans were slugged with yet another burden yesterday - odds-on favouritism for their historic first game against St George Illawarra on Sunday week.
With the Titans reeling over forward Anthony Laffranchi's off-field charge, coach John Cartwright was stunned last night when informed that his rookie side would start a short-priced fancy against a team which has been a perennial finalist over the past decade.
TAB Sportsbet yesterday opened betting on round 1 listing the Titans as a $1.55 favourite against a Dragons side ($2.35) rocked by the long-term loss of star five-eighth Mark Gasnier to injury.
"That amazes me. I think they are going to be every bit as strong without Gasnier," Cartwright said. "Sure he is a great player, he can score tries and set up tries from anywhere.
"But he was untried at five-eighth and I thought that might have presented us with a few opportunities.
"I don't think they'll lose too much. They have a very good crop of young blokes, and there are kids down there that no one knows anything about, who would be playing first grade at any other club.
"The fact he isn't there won't change my mindset and it won't change our approach. The Dragons are a very formidable side and we are going to need to be at our best to beat them."
TAB Sportsbet spokesman Glenn Munsie said Gasnier's absence was not the lone factor behind the decision to make the Titans favourite.
"The Titans were impressive in their last two trial games against Penrith and Parramatta," Munsie said.
The Titans have confirmed embattled Laffranchi is likely to be chosen in the Titans first team, despite his Sydney court hearing on March 27 on a charge of sexual assault.
Titans utility Luke O'Dwyer will be sidelined for at least two months following ankle surgery yesterday.
Second-rower Adam Hutchison, the Titans' best forward in their first trial against Melbourne on February 17, has been ruled out for the season with a knee injury. Courier Mail

Referee Karl Kirkpatrick confirms exit
Former Super League referee Karl Kirkpatrick has told the Rugby Football League he is to retire from refereeing with immediate effect.
Kirkpatrick was left off the Super League list after choosing to keep his banking job rather than go full-time.
"Karl enjoyed a very successful career as a grade-one match official and we'd like to thank him," said RFL match officials director Stuart Cummings.
Kirkpatrick has been restricted to National League team games this year. BBC Sport Online

BARA Tackles Parliament
A delegation of officials from the British Asian Rugby Association (BARA) has tackled the All Party Parliamentary Rugby League Group on issues affecting the growth of both union and league within Britain's Asian communities.
Led by BARA founder and former England rugby league star Ikram Butt, a five strong team which included BARLA International, Junaid Malik, Pakistan RU International, Kashif Khwaja, Spen Allison, BARLA Chairman and Heather Taylor, Competiton Manager for Bradford West School Sports Partnership headed to Londonin late February to make a presentation on their plans for developing the game
Butt explained "The presentation provided an introduction to BARA and covered the areas in which we are helping to promote both codes as well as contributing significantly to the governments agenda on key social issues. Wealso stressed the need for governing bodies and government to invest in encouraging participation amongst the ethnic communities.
"We got the invitation after they picked up on the good work we are doing around the UK and the response from all of the MPs present was very encouraging.
"We feel we have their support for many of our initiatives such as the launch of a dual code club in Manningham, the relaunch of the Tackle It anti-racism campaign and the work we have done with the Hamara Healthy Living Centre in Beeston, Leeds.
"We have been invited back to meet the All Party Parliamentary RU group as well as setting up a celebrity BARA dual code match against the MPs at some point in the summer. Watch this space!
"BARA is passionately committed to the growth of the oval ball games within the UK but we have stretched our activity overseas with assistance and advice for the South Asian nations where both codes are slowly making good in roads." added Ikram.
Lord Lofthouse, Chairman of the All Party Paliamentary Rugby League Group Commented "We are very impressed with the work carried out by Ikram and BARAand are fully behind their efforts to promote team sports and healthy lifestyles within the Asian communities."
Heather Taylor spoke about the ground breaking dual code rugby project that she has established in partnership with BARA and the two rugby governing bodies "The project is unique and the first of its kind and I am lookingforward to seeing it come to fruition."
Ikram, Kashif and Spen also recently met up with Sky TV pundit Mike StevoStephenson at Huddersfield RL Museum to discuss BARA developments.
BARA has also unveiled its plans for representative fixtures during 2007 with matches against Batley Under 21s on March 21st and England Lionhearts in June. BARA will also compete in the Dubai 7s event later this year and the Pocklington RU 7s on April 6th as well as playing in a Tri-Nations event with Pakistan and India in May.
BARA is an organisation which aims to provide positive role models, break down cultural & religious barriers, promote community integration, personal development, healthy living and encouraging participation in sport & physical activity especially in rugby. BARLA Online
