Rabbitohs Board Set to Vote on Crowe Bid
The board of the South Sydney rugby league club will meet tomorrow night to decide the future of a takeover bid by businessman Peter Holmes a Court and actor Russell Crowe.
The board will vote whether to reject the takeover or give members the chance to approve it.
Rabbitohs chairman Nick Pappas admitted today that it had been a drawn out process just to get the bid proposal to the voting stage.
"It probably seems that way and that's because there's been some hasty and sometimes uninformed comment about the proposal earlier than there should have been," he said.
"After the board makes its decision tomorrow night and should that be a vote in favour of taking it to the members, then there'll be plenty of opportunity for comment and debate in the lead-up to that extraordinary general meeting."
Mr Pappas said if the board approved taking the bid to members, an extraordinary general meeting could be held as early as March 19.
Mr Pappas added that only people who had been members of the club for three years would be eligible to vote at such a meeting.
"The voting membership get an opportunity to vote on it. We have a membership that is divided into members and non-voting members, given that there's a threshold period that members have to be members for before they can vote," he said.
"But the voting members will get an opportunity to vote on it at that extraordinary general meeting that we'll call should the board vote in favour tomorrow night."

"I believe all clubs and coaches at all levels should have a copy of RLCM Books as a coaching resource" Wayne Bennett - Brisbane Broncos
Football Parents, Support, Smiles and Sporting Success.
By Wayne Goldsmith
Continued from Wednesday
These are the most common questions asked by sporting parents:
QUESTION 7:
How do I choose a good coach for my child?
Answer:
Qualifications, experience and coaching record are all important when selecting a coach for the young player.
Younger coaches who may lack coaching experience but who have an infectious enthusiasm for the game and a passion to succeed may also be a good option.
However, they key question for parents to ask is:
Can the coach provide a safe, ethical, positive, skills based, stimulating training environment?
The reality for most parents is that they will choose the coach who is best situated on their afternoon "drop off circuit", ie mum drops Julie to swimming, Billy to piano and Johnny to football, then goes back to pick up Julie to take her to netball etc etc.
Key comment: Does your child like the coach AND do you have faith in the coach - enough to give them 100% support?
QUESTION 8:
What are the common characteristics of champion players?
Answer:
· Confidence / self esteem / self belief · The ability to deal with tough times and adversity · A love of what they are doing - the passion for the game will carry them a long way. · Strong core values: courage, discipline, humility, sincerity, honesty - these things make an impact on their playing career and their lives. · A positive attitude
Key comment: Champion athletes are champion people first.
