RLCM 'Everyday' Coaching Quote for Thursday

A try may be scored by running 50 metres or more but is actually made
by one metre or less. To understand its value in a true football
sense the metre can be converted into time.

A try is made by penetrating the defence, after that it has to be
scored. Obviously all tries made are not scored
due to a number
of reasons such as lack of support, speed of cover defence, or errors
by the attacking team.

The making of a try due to the action of Rugby League can be the
result of a defender missing the tackle by a metre or even less.

In expressing this relationship between time and distance lets
assume a player could run 96 metres in twelve seconds, that is 8
metres in one second or one metre in 1/8th of a second.

Fittler backs pay parity

By Darren Walton

BRAD FITTLER - who has made millions out of rugby league - has
amazingly made a call for players to be paid more.

Fittler, one of the last big contract earners in the game, believes
rugby league is lagging behind other sports in the pay stakes and
wants the NRL to take another close look at a minimum wage structure
for all full-time players.

He stressed he was targeting the average first-grader and not the
elite players.

"When we compare our situation with cricketers, AFL players and rugby
union players, we're so far behind it's not funny," said Fittler.

"The players have very little to gain from rugby league really, it's
a bit frustrating.

"There's some definite issues the NRL needs to have a look at. At the
moment it seems to be in their favour a lot and

the players have very little.

"It's not really the elite players who are affected by this so it's
not as though we're trying to line our own pockets. We're just
looking after the general well-being of the players.

"We want a collective bargaining agreement. One for the future and
for the future players of the game."

Fittler's comments came after the Rugby League Players Association
met yesterday and re-ignited its push for a genuine minimum wage
level for full-time players.

RLPA president Tony Butterfield would not reveal the amount his
organisation was seeking but it is understood to be about
$35,000.............read more

How is a game put onto the computer?
SPORTS PERFORMER makes use of a mpg file residing on your computers
hard-disk but how is this file created?

There are several methods used to create these files and the device
that you will use depends on your current equipment configuration.

The common method of recording a game is currently onto a VHS video
tape and to save a video onto computer requires a video capture
device. One end of this device is attached either to an available
USB port or an available PCI slot on your computer and the other end
to either the AV (yellow and white) or the S-Video sockets on your
VCR.

Software such as ULead Studio or similar that is packaged with the
purchase of the device allows you to view the video on your computer
monitor and then allows recording to a computer mpg file.
Should you be lucky enough to have access to a digital video camera,
footage recorded on a digital camera can be transferred directly onto
your computers hard-disk via the cameras attachments and software.

If you are able to make your own game files on the computer, then the
Internet download is your best option as this can be available
immediately.

Alternatively, a clip from an old game can be included with the
demonstration version on a CD and posted to you.
