TERI.............you need a lot of help
I run a team of 10/11 year olds, we are playing the final this week. I
played at a high level for years. If I can help........

First.....11 players only!........then find out who can run fast......they
are the wide players ( wingers)........who is strong and confident......they
are defenders. 1 playmaker sits in the middle of the team and they are the
best passer of the ball. If you have kids who wont come back and defend,
they only want to score......don't fight it, let them. The formation that
works best for me is 3 4 3
3 defenders, 4 close midfield, and 3 attackers, 2 are wide left and fight
and they can run fast.
You will not often see a pro team play like this but it works great for
kids.
Get them to socialise...they will pass to each other if they like each
other. I have written about 30 pages of help for othet coaches here ( in
London), but it is not a book and i give it free to help. If I can be of
more help then i am happy to send you bits of info at a time to get your
team winning ( where do you play?)...........
The first thing you might want to try is this....and it is funamental to
playing good football.

STAMP ON THE ANT!

line the kids up opposite each other. they will pass to each other only
touching the ball ( with their foot) once. ONE TOUCH PASSING

TEACH THIS.....
There is an ant standing right in front of the ball, poking his tongue out
at you......stamp your foot down on him hard ( he is wearing a crash helmet,
so he will be alright)..Don't wait for the ball to come to you, kick the
ball with the instep( FLAT INSIDE) of your foot while it it just in front of
you. Your knees are in line , your toes are pointing foreward on you
standing foot, and if you are right footed, they are pointing directly right
on your kicking foot. Stamp hard on the ant as the ball comes to you.
The effect is a back spin pass which is easy to direct and doesn't require
an extra touch. Some kids will be able to do it straight away. Others will
get it in a few weeks. It doesn't give the players on the other team time to
tackle you so its a safe way of playing. You can practice without the ball
at home or with just two kids goig backwards and forwards.....see how long
they can keep it up before it goes wrong. If you put 2 rows opposite each
other to begin with...it will always go to someone. If they say the name of
who they are passing to you can see who is directing the ball well and who
isnt.

HAVE A GO....ITS FUN
If I can be of any more help.....rather than sifting through books.....i am
happy to help......I retired very young so i have time for the things i
enjoy.

GOOD LUCK
RICH
