This is false. Spinning removes friction. Fastball pitchers provide a lot
of spin and rotation on the ball when they pitch and are among the most
accurate. Knuckleball pitchers pitch with almost no rotation and are among
the most unpredictable and slowest. In soccer when shooting you can use
different types of spin and power on your shots. Watch some of the free
kicks of Roberto Carlos and David Beckham to see what can be achieved
through different type of spin.
