I am new to this club... I thought I would give it a try... I am
a.... as you would call a.... hard core raiders fan. Face paint...
at the road game... raisin' hell... that's me... Been regulated to
satilite seasons now hahahahaha... thank god for direct TV! But the
the draft is this weekend... I say the raiders take a defensive
lineman and a linebacker in the first round. Anybody disagree?
Wheatley is in. Stubblefield is in. Ritchie is out (Philadelphia).
Jett is out. Robbins no word. Dorsett is out. Upshaw is out. For the

Raiders keep tailback Wheatley
----------------------------------------------------------------------

ESPN.com
Despite a diminished role in the Oakland offense over the past two
seasons, Raiders coaches and team officials still consider Tyrone
Wheatley essential to their success.
ESPN.com learned Sunday the two sides have reached an agreement in
principle on a new contract.
Terms of the agreement, which end the veteran tailback's three-week
tenure as an unrestricted free agent, were not immediately available.
The contract will be signed later in the week.
Wheatley, 31, attracted interest from other teams at the outset of
the signing period, but Oakland officials pursued him from the first
day of free agency. With the market slowed to a near-halt, and the
Raiders the team for which he wanted to play anyway, Wheatley decided
to act now on the Oakland offer.
The eight-year veteran played in 14 games in 2002 and rushed for 419
yards and two touchdowns on 108 carries. He also had 12 receptions
for 71 yards.
Over the past two seasons, as Charlie Garner has emerged as the
Raiders' No. 1 tailback, the time-sharing plan under which the two
veterans played has been reduced. Yet the Raiders hierarchy,
including owner Al Davis, sees Wheatley as an excellent complement to
Garner and the franchise's toughest inside runner.
Indeed, the former University of Michigan star remains a physical
presence between the tackles and has continued to pay dividends to an
Oakland team that plucked him off the waiver wire just before the
start of the '99 season. In his first two years with the Raiders, he
rushed for 1,982 yards, including a 1,046-yard performance in 2000.
The first-round draft choice of the New York Giants in 1995, Wheatley
was often termed a bust during his four years with the team, and he
was traded to the Miami Dolphins in 1999. Wheatley was released by
the Dolphins before the start of the season and signed by the Raiders.
Former coach Jon Gruden in particular used Wheatley as a human
wrecking ball against the interior of opposition defenses.
In 102 games, Wheatley has 32 starts, and has rushed for 3,957 yards
and 32 touchdowns on 1,026 career attempts. He has 98 receptions for
702 yards in eight seasons, with seven touchdown catches. The
retention of Wheatley continues a Raiders emphasis on bolstering
their backfield. The team last week signed a pair of fullbacks, Cecil
Martin and Chris Hetherington, to replace former starter Jon Ritchie,
who signed with the Philadelphia Eagles earlier this month as an
unrestricted free agent.

A letter home from a marine with the multinational force in Bosnia
Dear Dad,
A funny thing happened to me yesterday at Camp Bondsteel (Bosnia): A French army officer walked up to me in the PX, and told me he thought we (Americans) were a bunch of cowboys and were going to provoke a war in Iraq. He said if such a thing happens, we wouldn't be able to count on the support of France.
I told him that it didn't surprise me. Since we had come to France's rescue in World War I, World War II, Vietnam, and the Cold War, their ingratitude and jealousy was due to surface, again, at some point in the near future
anyway.
I also told him that is why France is a third-rate military power with a
socialist economy and a bunch of faggots for soldiers. I additionally told him that America, being a nation of deeds and action, not words, would do whatever it had to do, and France's support, if it ever came, was only for show anyway.
Just like in ALL NATO exercises, the US would shoulder 85% of the burden, and provide 85% of the support, as evidenced by the fact that this French officer was shopping in the American PX, and not the other way around.
He began to get belligerent at that point, and I told him if he would like to, I would meet him outside in front of the Burger King and whip his ass in front of the entire Multi-National Brigade East, thus demonstrating that
even the smallest American had more fight in him than the average Frenchman.
He called me a barbarian cowboy and walked away in a huff. With friends
I write this email with deep sadness and embarrassment. I am in need of help in the worst way. I need employment and to relocate to an area preferably in Northern California to find work that I haven't been able to find in the tourist industry area that I currently live in now. Normally I would not lower myself to this level, but I am desperate at this point.
I live in the far south end of Florida in Dolphin fan land.
My mother in law just passed away after being sick for over 3 months. During that time the only source of income was my wife's medical transcription work. She had not made enough income with the trips to be with her mother during her long hospital stay prior to her death, to pay many bills. I have been trying desperately to find work as a cnc programmer, or cnc machinist anywhere within a 50 mile or more commute, but to no avail. Most employment here if any requires that a person also be versed in the Cuban dialect, of which I am not. We also could not afford to have outside help come in to take care of the ten mouths to feed in this house while my wife was away, either up north to be with her mother while hospitalized or to go out to California to the funeral services.
After she got back she was not very effective at catching up on bills and we got way behind in everything.
I had still not been able to find ANY kind of work even though I just tried to find minimal wage jobs to help out with the bills.
Now we have learned that the house is being sold and we have to vacate by the end of closing. Not liking the area here anyway, we decided that we would like to relocate back to where we had friends and family in California if it could all be worked out.
As most of you know, I do some sports writing on the Raiders through a few web sites like RaiderDrive and the Raider team page on SportzNutz dot com, but get little to nothing for my writings of the by-line "My 27 Cents Worth".
I hope everyone has enjoyed my columns, but that is not why I am coming to you for assistance at this point.
My big problem right now is that I woke up this morning to find my pick up had been repossessed by the bank. Now I have no way to transport my machinist tool boxes even if I can find work. My plan was to go ahead of my wife and family and stay with a relative while I go begging for a job to support us, but that fell through without a way to transport my tools and get to and from a job.
I paid seventeen thousand over the past 5 years for my truck but they repossessed it with me only owing a little under four thousand left on the note. Without a job or source for income I couldn't borrow the money to refinance it either.
I am humbly asking if anyone or everyone could possibly help me out financially to redeem my truck so that I can complete my plan of relocating back to California and possibly do Raider player interviews in my spare time to share with everyone in Raider Nation?
Like I said, I wouldn't normally feel this depressed and desperate if it wasn't for such tragic circumstances. Many of you may know how it feels to be so broke and realize that it is not fun to have to grovel, but I just don't know what to do at this time.
If any of you know of any place that pays a livable wage and could use a good worker, it would really help me out of a real bind here.
If any of you could help in any way possible, please email me and let me know. I desperately want to get out of Dolphin land and back to Raider Nation areas of California.
Please understand that this is not easy for me, and I will need all the emotional support that I can get from my fellow Raider fans.
I'm a new member to your group, I look forward to talking alot of
RAIDER football here!! I'm a die hard fan and I bleed Silver&Black!!
Thanks,

Marcus Allen was voted into the Hall of Fame this year. He has announced that
he will be entering the hall as both a Raider and a Chief. His father will
speak on his behalf at the ceremony later this year. The induction marks
another milestone in the professional career of a Heisman Trophy winner,Rookie
Pro Bowl player,Super Bowl MVP and possibly the best all purpose running back to
ever play the game. Congratulations to Marcus Allen. GoRaiders!
Following the terrible Super Bowl loss to Tampa Bay last week, the Raider
Pro-Bowlers helped lead the AFC to an equally devastating victory over the NFC
in this year's Pro Bowl in Hawaii. All Raiders interviewed during the course of
the game projected a positive attitude and an eagerness to return in 2003 for
another run at post-season competition. If all goes well for acqusitions and
contract restructuring over the off-season look for the Raiders to make yet
another impressive statement about their committment to excellence in the coming
year.
Once again, thanks to all of the Raider fans who have joined this discussion
group. It would be absolutely nothing without your prescence and input. Please
share any Raider news that comes your way over the off season. Not all of us
are lucky enough to live in the Bay Area and experience actual Raider sightings.
Have a good off-season.

overall there are a lot of fans and teams who wish that they were US! The
season is over but football news never ends....If you hear any interesting
Raider news during the off-season plese post it here. The draft is getting
closer every day. It'll be interesting to see how the front office gets us out
of salary cap trouble and continues to build the team. Any guesses about who's
out and who's in? Post them here.

The Tamapa Bay Buc's came to play the game of their life.
Oakland came to play football in San Diego...
Hat's off to Gruden and his team, he got us one last time.
But I do agree, its time to brush off the hits we all "RAIDER FANS" took yesterday and today, and just plan for next years mixed offence that Gruden knows nothing about.
Take care Raider Buddies, The wizzard is on watch and we will be back next year.

I think the four game loss put them in the right frame of mind for
the playoffs.. Last year they got to cocky going into the playoffs..
This is the year of "Black and Sliver"
Bring it home Timmy and Gannon..
