Actually, depending on where you were in the world, chariots were used for war
(amongst other things) right through the Year Dot and into the 1st century AD.
Those later dates come from England and Ireland where the chariot held on long
enough to be noted by Caesar in his _De Bello Gallico_ (58BC roughly) as used
against his Roman troops in very skillful "drive-bys."

funny you should mention a chariot, they were in use between 3000 bc
till about 800bc, with climax about 1300 bc. romans used them for
sport racing till about 600ad. but did not use them for war.
