Probably a good idea. Daycare workers and teachers have to pass these checks. Working in the field that I do, people who predate children often look for opportunities to be around children, preferably in an "leader type" position. Of course, I think that people convicted of heinous felony charges ( murder, rape, incest, felony molestation & felony assault)  should be banned from the  SCA altogether, but that is just my opinion.
