Mr. Smoot asked that I email him my time from the Douglas Chase the
Pig 5k race. So, here you go Mr. Smoot and for those out of the loop
on yesterday's race, here y'all go:
Several of our local runners made the trip including the van load of
Mr. Smoot, Alan, Mary Alice, and myself. Everyone made a strong
showing, representing our area well. Our particular group did
exceptionally well, as Mr. Smoot won the overall race and the rest of
us won our divisions (at least, I'm pretty sure we all did). Time
wise, I am embarrassed to say I can only remember mine, kinda.
Officially an 18:24 (I thought it was more of an 18:29, but who am I
to argue with the official timer), first in division, third overall.
Despite the heavy winds we had to run into, the course was a pretty
fast one. The start of the race was especially fast, as Mr. Smoot and
Alan decided to "feel their oats" and take off with the jack rabbits
you have at the start of each race.
Other than the medals we received, Mr. Smoot and Alan also won really
swanky door prizes, all four of us won plastic piggy banks for
"beating the pig," and Mr. Smoot came away with a Pig shaped cookie
jar full of candy corn for being the overall male winner. We made off
like bandits.
It is also of note that this was Charlie's anniversary race, as the
Chase the Pig 5k was his first 5k a couple of years ago. If I
remember correctly his time has improved about 10 minutes since that
firs race.
Excellent race overall and congratulations to everyone who completed it.
Excelsior,
Masked Avenger
