Being of a younger generation, obviously
you never quite learned the concept of stop, drop, and roll. If you did, you
would know how to crash with continuous motion so that the spectators would be
left wondering, “did that guy fall, or is he just very graceful?”

something lighter
At the request of another poster and in light of the
recent cautionary
but heavy post, I thought it appropriate to share this.
I competed in a "5k" this past weekend. Wait for it. Most everyone
is aware of my couple of tumbles over the Summer which resulted in a
lengthy layoff to heal a leg/foot injury. Still a-comin. I was
making what I thought to be a strong showing and looking at maybe,
maybe running a 19:something for the first time in months. Here it
is. Roughly 150 yards (YARDS not METERS, this is the
the finish I run through the big ol mud puddle like the three guys in
front of me. Unfortunately, unlike those three, I totally bought it
when I hit the grass on the other side. Seems they all went around
the puddle, I, in the interest of gaining a second or two, ran through
it. End result being a fall, a nice little slide, and a 20 minute
something performance. yay me. This is really funny when you think
about my 6'3" frame sliding through the grass while holding up my feet
to avoid another injury. Sigh...embarrassing
