In response to a question, I posted the following info on the icedancers
list, but copied it below as I believe it has very broad interest for a
number of people.

Here's the original posting:

Rhea Schwartz (much to her astonishment) met with the ISU's president
Ottavio Cinquanta during Worlds in Washington DC a few weeks ago. For
those who do not have the privilege of knowing her, Rhea is the mother of
the adult skating movement.

At the adult skater's mtg on 4/10 (at the USFSA Adult Nationals) Rhea
announced there are definite plans to create a true Adult Worlds sanctioned
by the ISU. I may easily have some of the details garbled, but Rhea has
been appointed the head of a committee to work on this with the ISU. She
feels there will be an Adult Worlds in the very near future. At this
point, who knows when or where but it certainly looks like a true Adult
World competition is practically inevitable. Rhea emphasized that "it is
time" for this (Adult Worlds) to happen. A crucial step is sanctioning by
the ISU (or an equivalent body).

I believe there may be some sort of Worlds put on by the United States ISI,
but don't know if it is adult only or any of the details. It's *my
assumption* Adult Worlds would generally follow the format of the USFSA's
structure as the US seems to be in the vanguard of adult skating. Rhea did
not address this directly, but I think it is a reasonable assumption.

Rhea also briefly addressed the ISU-World Skating Federation
issue. Basically, she said she was interested in adult skating no matter
which "universe" it happened in...ISU or WSF...and was leaving those issues
for the powers that be who are involved in them.

Quite a few people were at the AN mtg. They may have a better or more
accurate grasp on what was said than I do....or
additional knowledge. Maybe they would post more on this issue?
