*** Zillah Skate Park Plans Rolling Along ***

Plans are rolling along for a park that skateboarders
in one Lower Valley city can call their very own.

He may not be the best skate boarder in the valley,
but Josiah Gust of Zillah is still a big fan of the sport.
"Nothing like being on a skateboard," says Gust.

The nearest skate park however is in Yakima, leaving
many skaters in Zillah to skate where they're not welcome.
"Yeah the shop owners don't like us using the sidewalks
in front ot their buildings," says Gust.

That's why he and many others have been working for a couple
of years to bring a park like this to Zillah. One parent loves the
idea.

"It keeps kids out of the roadway, and off private party,"
says Toni Locati. She also says skating is good exercise,
and is better for kids than sitting at home.

Gust is glad many, including the city council,
are on board with the idea.

City leaders are trying to receive grant money for the skate park.
Depending on its design, a park can cost up to $300-thousand.
