*** Council bans motorized scooters from city parks ***

Roseburg, Oregon -- 10/29/2004
The Roseburg City Council unanimously passed an ordinance
banning motorized scooters from city-owned, off-street bicycle
or pedestrian paths and trails at its regular meeting Monday night.

The council also voted 6 to 1 on an ordinance requiring merchants
of motor-assisted scooters to educate buyers about the legalities
of riding the toys. Regulations include speed and age limits, required
head gear and lawful places to ride.

Scooter sellers must post notice near where the toys are sold,
including the regulatory information and distribute notices to buyers.
