*** BMX Enlists Help From ACLU ***
BMX Legal News -- 09/20/2004
A group of BMXers has recently begun to take action against
wrongful mistreatment, harassment, and arrest of riders, and
have enlisted the help of the American Civil Liberties Union,
or ACLU. As a rider, you know how important it is to be treated
fairly, legally, and with respect.
One filmer wrote: The cops seized my video camera off one
of my team riders and kept it for two weeks because they
didn't think he looked like he could have gotten the camera
in a legitimate way.
This kind of profiling is exactly the kind of thing that needs
to be brought to light. If you or anyone you know has gone
to court or jail, had to pay fines, or were mistreated in any
way in jail or by an officer,
please e-mail the info to
heidi@...
Include the date of the incident or incidents, the city and state,
and any details you feel pertain to your situation. Also, if any of
your possessions, including bikes, cameras, backpacks, etc.,
were confiscated please include that information as well.
