WENATCHEE, WASHINGTON -- 06/04/2004
~Hundreds of riders are expected for June 12 tour~
Wenatchee Sunrise Rotary will be the host for the 17th
annual Apple Century Bike Ride on Saturday, June 12.

It is expected that hundreds of riders will participate in the
50- and 100-mile rides, which start at the Wenatchee
Convention Center.

Family members who wish to ride a shorter route can follow
the 11-mile Apple Capital Recreation Loop Trail from the
same starting point.

The 100-mile ride will head up the east side of the Columbia River
to Chelan, to the Navarre Coulee, then down the west side of the
Columbia River finishing at the Wenatchee Convention Center.
The 50-mile ride will have riders turn around at Daroga State Park.

Last year, more than 1,000 riders participated
from three Pacific Northwest states and Canada.

"We are fortunate to have hundreds of loyal riders who return
year after year," event coordinator Joanne Rosenthal said in a
release. "Many of the westside riders tell us that this is a great
training ride and that they love the Wenatchee sunshine."

Proceeds from the ride are used to fund
Sunrise Rotary projects for seniors and children.

The festivities will start Friday, June 11,
with registration from 6 to 8 p.m. and a
pasta dinner hosted by Garlini's.

A "Finish Line Fest," hosted by the Wenatchee Convention Center,
will welcome the riders as they finish the event Saturday.

Both celebrations will feature a beer
garden and local live music from Fat Happy.
