*** Finish Line Picks Up Exclusive DuPont License ***
TAIPEI, Taiwan -- 04/02/2003
Finish Line will soon distribute three new lubes carrying
the DuPont brand name. In addition, Trek's distribution
arm will add Finish Line and the new DuPont lubes to
its roster of products.
Hank Krause, Finish Line's president, said nabbing the
DuPont name was a major coup for his New York company.
DuPont, which tried entering the lubricant market years ago,
selected Finish Line as its first brand-name licensee.
"DuPont asked me to bring these products to market,"
Krause said at the Taipei Cycle Show.
American retailers will see the new line of Teflon-based lubes
at Interbike. The products include a spray lube for chains,
a spray grease for hard-to-reach component parts and a
Teflon-silicon spray for tubing to help shed mud and dirt.
"In DuPont's entire history, they have never licensed their name,"
Krause said. "They have always protected their corporate identity.
So we're very proud of this."
The new lubes will carry the DuPont logo, but each can will
note that the lube is manufactured under license by Finish Line.
Finish Line has bought raw materials from DuPont for years.
