BMX Development Coach - Olympic Oval National Cycling Centre
The Olympic Oval is currently looking for a recurring part-time
National Cycling Centre BMX Development Coach. This position
reports to the National Cycling Centre Head Coach and the Associate
Director of Sport Development.
Position: Development BMX Coach
Duties and Responsibilities: To provide a world class year round
training and competition environment for development BMX athletes
at the Olympic Oval National Cycling Centre.
To develop a comprehensive training program and provide technical
expertise to the developing BMX cyclists. The Olympic Oval National
Cycling Centre- BMX Development Coach is also a key team member
of the overall coaching unit based at the Olympic Oval.
The coach must be able to work collaboratively with other Centre coaches
in creating the best training environment for program athletes. Such work
also requires that the incumbent be able to work under pressure and
multitask effectively.
Reporting: The Olympic Oval National Cycling Centre- BMX
Development Coach reports to the National Cycling Centre
Head Coach and the Associate Director of Sport Development.
Hours of Work: This position is intended to be part time at 7-12 hours per
week. Hours vary throughout the year ranging from 2.5-5 hours a day.
Some travel during the year may be required. Work during the evenings
and weekends will be required as much of the sporting environment
occurs during non-office hours.
Qualifications: The candidate will have experience coaching at the
Provincial/National Team level BMX athletes in training, camp and
competitive situations.
The following or equivalent qualifications: Level 2 or higher NCCP
certification or willingness to achieve within a reasonable time frame,
or a background in Kinesiology or equivalent.
Skill and experience working with bicycle equipment is required.
Knowledge and ability to work with augmented training systems:
i.e., video, computer based training technology, etc. Knowledge
of Canadian sport organizations, structures and entities in the
sport of cycling as well as general amateur sport: i.e., Canadian
Cycling Association, Alberta Bicycling Association, Alberta BMX
Association, CODA, National Sports Centre-Calgary, etc.
The successful candidate must also have or attain
current CPR, First Aid, and AED certification.
