Glad to see the Sliders have apparently found a legitimate home. The
league website today said a new ballpark is being built in Clarkston
(suburban Detroit) and they are to become the Oakland County Cruisers.
Like the car theme obviously tying into Detroit. The commissioner
also said he hopes to put another team in Michigan and tap into the
Cleveland and Kansas City areas. I remember him saying a couple years
ago he hoped to bring the league to Detroit and Kansas City. It
appears as if he has delivered on Detroit. This is good news the
Sliders will have a home after their upcoming nomadic season and can
only make for a stronger and more viable league.
I'm also just wondering what everyone thinks of a woman who has a nice pair of biceps..ie does she asking for ridicule if she wears something revealing?

My most memorable moments not necessarily in order: 1. The division clincher 2. The diamond dig 3. Meeting Prince Joe Henry and watching the players in old Negro League uniforms. (If the Grizzlies do the tribute again, I hope they have a vendor or two selling Negro League memorabilia.)

I enjoy Minor League baseball for the following reasons:
1. Close to the action.
2. Foul ball opportunities
3. You can smell the grass
4. See tomorrow's MLB players today (My grandson has a Grizzlies
T-Shirt signed by Scott Patterson.
5. Family safe (who would let their 8 year old leave their seat at
Busch to buy a hotdog.)
6. Family of 4 can attend for $20.00
7. Players & staff are approachable.
8. etc.

Well, friend, I think that there are some who believe Major League Baseball to have gotten to greedy and powerful, not to mention the situations involving certain substances that are not too fondly looked upon.
These things, combined with the fact that so many players in the independent circuit are playing primarily for love of the game, are what bring about interest in Independent Professional Baseball.
This is, of course, my observation.

That's great news Scott Patterson is getting work and doing well in spring training. We really hope things work out for him. We're keeping our fingers crossed!

"This field, this game...it's a part of our past... it reminds us of all that once was good and could be again."
Last week we covered a lot of the off-season news around the league. This week we're going to try to catch up on some of the player transactions. This week's show will air live at noon, Central Time, but it is also available at the site for download.
Check it out, and we would appreciate your feedback.

Good to hear there are others out there. I'm also hoping ticket prices are the same. I don't mind paying for a good time for my family etc, but always hoping to keep spending under control .

I can't wait either... I'm ready for spring... I drive past GCS ballpark everyday on the way to work and look forward to a warm day to go & watch baseball! Excited to read on the website that several of the players have been re-signed for '08... several of my son's favorites, so he's
thrilled...

Sorry to sound like a broken record, but are people getting excited yet about baseball? I know I can't wait. As much as I like other sports, I love it when baseball is right around the corner.
Of course I ready now. I called GCS today to see if I could pick out my seats for the season ticket package my wife bought me for Christmas (she's a keeper!).
