It's show business mixed with baseball...
I'm sure Tony doesn't need national tv appearances to feel good about
the job he does... but his job is to fill stands first.. then Frontier
League titles are nice after that... he continues to keep the
Grizzlies experience fresh... in other places it would be "yesterday's
fad" already for the less than hard core fans...
It's up to players to put up good numbers to have a chance at bigger
things.. Tony Funderburg doesn't have to make like a college SID
promoting a player's Heisman chances... in the internet era... a kid
with good stuff will be found out whether there is a scout looking at
him in person or not.... in fact baseball scouting departments are
getting more and more done without scouts on the road...
The Grizzly Burger publicity is a coup for the team and it's good for
the players.. because it's good for them to play before a packed
house.. and a more successful organization gets more attention for the
players....
